Nope, just found the relation between education level and this particular religious belief to be very interesting. Perhaps you didn't catch it the first time:
Oh I caught it but I don't necessarily believe it. I believe it depends on the area and the types of people you ask. Any poll can be pushed in one direction or another. I for one have a bachelors degree and my husband a masters and we both are Christians. Not fundies but believers none the less. So again any poll can be skewed.
The point I was trying to make though was, you said you were happy to see such a low % but the % was 41 that is not low. You then said you were speaking about the 19% which caused my reaction about you only caring about college educated people.
I'm just wondering if the OP understands how polls are conducted and what constitutes a legit and unbiased sample? Because ANYONE can take a poll and slant it in which ever way the so desire!
I'm sure anyone could conduct a poll that could show that non believers are poorer, less educated, and less content with life. . . But really, what is the value, what is the purpose of a poll like this? Does your poll make atheist feel better about themselves? Do they need to?
Your child is really really sick in the hosp and they are running test on your child. Do you not have faith that your child is going to get better. Or are you just doom and gloom your child is doing to die
When your child or loved one walks outside for the day do you not believe or have faith that they will return home safe?
When you wake up in the morning do you not believe that you will live to go back to sleep in that bed?
It is no different then having faith that there is a GOD.
Nice try, but there are those here who won't be able to understand what you tried to tell them.

To answer your questions. NO. none of it. If my child is sick, i just hope that he gets better. I have no urge to clutch a cross or "pray".
When my child walks out the door, i hope that he is ok and returns fine. I dont need an "all knowing being" to look over him.
But I also find it interesting that the OP had to, once again try to put down Christians with the education level remark. I bet this poll, data is very scientifically based. wink wink!
That's right, continue to IGNORE facts. You're having a hard time digesting that, huh?
That's nice for your wife. Yet according to the poll, if she believes JC is coming back soon, she's in the distinct minority among educated people.
This is a belief driven by the uneducated.. Something you can say for all religions.
And that is a conclusion driven by the 1) uninformed, or 2) over educated.

The education aspect is in keeping with long standing trends. People who have a deep belief in Christianity tend to be slightly less educated than the population at large. Generally the most educated have no particular religious conviction.
Further, the bible is replete with reference to “the soon coming” of Christ. So it makes perfect sense that 41% of Americans would hold some eschatological position that Christ will come within their lifetime.
I suspect that this number is drastically lower even among Evangelicals than it was in the 1970’s when the world was vastly less stable. If one were to do this poll in 1973 or so I suspect that number would be closer to 60%.
Faith and education are not interdependent. Do you think they are?

Remember how a lot of people use to say he would return in the year 2000 & the world will end?
Lately I've been hearing many people saying he's going to return in 2012.
All of these figures are wrong & it's nothing but evil views trying to make everyone live in fear.
All I can say is that everyone should just pray & never try to figure the date or you'll find yourselves living in fear for the rest of your life.
To a Christian (highly educated or not), His return is not a fearful thing.

I would love to see how they conducted this!
I would also love to see the % of non high school graduates who voted for Obama. Now THAT would be of interest.
I was wondering the same thing. Too bad I can't rep you again. Great points!
