It is, and has been, very clear that the GOP is not interested in helping us move out of this recession. They feel they have some political advantage in stopping a recovery. They are not concerned about the unemployed, small business or any efforts that do anything to benefit anyone, other than large business. Yet, there are many who would want to send more of them to Congress. It boggles the mind, as to why.

Cut spending...

Good idea.... how about the GOP thinking about that regarding starting phony wars of no use whatsoever and killing our American soldiers.

Regarding unemployment aid:

How would you feel if you were without a job due to the way our economy is going and there was no help for you. I bet you would be furious.

But since it is about someone else and NOT YOU , who cares right

The American people see what is happening. The GOP is once again demonstrating their ignorance. They say they are all concerned about the deficits, yet when they refuse to vote for a Senate Commission to deal with how to handle it, one that several of them coauthored, how can anyone say with straight face, that they have an interest in anything but the politics. In Nov, I hope there will be some backlash, but midterms are notoriously low in participation. The continued obstruction will hopefully bring out more people than normal, but that remains to be seen.

So again, at what point would you consider UE benefits excessive. Shy of 2 years to try and find another job is getting to the point of excess in my opinion. To me, a commisions not going to do anything other then point out the obvious, we need to cut spending. You still need the votes to do that, and as we've seen congress loves spending money.

When UE benefits are no longer needed.

[quote=sanrene;14762525]You mean not spending money we don't have?

I guess those pay-go rules that obama signed mean nothing.

Isn't 99 weeks of UE benefits enough?[/QUOTE

OK genius, since when did this country ever abide by the rule of paying for something with actual money on-hand? So let's start now when millions of Americans have no other option? Also FYI, not everyone received 99 weeks. I received 46 weeks and I'm done, as are many. Hope you and others like you lose your job soon, so you can join the ranks of the current six applicants for every job available.

LOL only the Dems would need a commission to figure out how to deal with deficits. I will save some time and save some money on the commission. Here it goes: CUT SPENDING.

So that's ended...now we can stop bailing out companies since they're not sustaining anything but themselves.

I agree, we need to reduce spending and deal with this Country's debt. Now, what should be cut, the spending of Democratic programs? The spending of Republican programs? I would say, both. But determining which and by how much, needs to be a bipartisan process, with teeth. The President has established a Commission, but it has no official Senate authority. Why is there not a Commission in the Senate to do that? Simple answer, the Repubs who had called for it, backed out. It was apparently more politically advantageous to not address the problem. No other reason that I can see. You can spin it any way you want, but that's just the fact.

Only a GOP Kool-Aid drinker would say something like that. Where were you when we spent a Trillion dollars in Iraq, going back for a refill?
