Right.....and prior to sex in the city, those same women usually went to bed early every night or if they felt a adventurous, they'd go to evening mass at their neighborhood church where they would pray that some day soon they'll be meeting their future husband....the man they've been saving themselves for.

The movie/show may have given a few night clubs ideas on how to draw more customers into their club but, it didn't suddenly make the women that have seen it, want to change the morals and values they've adopted in their lives up until that point.

Ummmm..... you might want to read up on Mrs. Einstein. Economics is my specialty, not Physics... but it was my impression that 'The Little Woman' was right there with Albert, and may have actually been the more important contributor in their collaboration.

And as for all those digs against working women.... Very few women in "The Good Ol' Days" got to sit on their tuffets like Little Miss Muffet. Most women worked from can't-see to can't-see...just like the men. And even refined ladies kept busy with the endless and actually quite complex jobs of sewing fine garments, and running their households.

And as for why women started going out into the workplace, please remember that we had a huge Civil War, two World Wars, and that Bungle in the Jungle....all of which killed or disabled whole generations of menfolk. There weren't enough able men to go around, at times. Women had no choice but to do for themselves. The taxes had to be paid, and the children had to be educated. Women had to learn how to make money.

Personally, I grew up in a household of old, dying women (and one lush). I was butt-ugly and dirt-poor, and had no expectation of finding a husband. So I defied all the "who do you think you are, girl...going off to college" type advice, and set out to make myself capable of supporting myself. Divine Providence did provide, however, in the form of an equally hideous and pitiful boy, in my Freshman semester Weightlifting 101 class. We were a team within days, and a couple within weeks. Diet, weightlifting, and endless...ahem....'romantic activity' (triggered a Testosterone Surge, which triggered a late-onset growth-surge) transformed him into the centerfold-worthy stallion I've got, today. But I sure didn't expect that. And I didn't expect that either of us would be pulling in the kind of money we do, now. In the final analysis, however, neither of us would or could have become what we are, if not for the other.

Call it 'feminism', call it 'getting too big for our britches'....call it anything you want. I call it teamwork.

Congratulations. You've just paid someone to tell you everything you wanted to hear to reaffirm your misogyny. Feel taller now? Can you get a date or do they immediately spot your contempt for them?

Nice personal attack. I suppose you think the female author of that book hates women?

I have always preferred the company of women. By and large they are much more rational then men and more fun to be around.

I didn't miss that she was female. I guess you didn't know that prostitution is the oldest profession. You only chose a different delivery system. Making better choices is about your values, not anyone elses.

Don't be ridiculous. Women are too smart to believe that life emulates art. Also, what about men looking at airbrushed models and porn stars and expecting real women to be that perfect looking? Are men that easily duped? This is a waste of time just like your other threads have been.

You dont even have to go to NYC anymore to see women going off to work in short skirts and the tall boots. Its all about showing off your body and being proud to do it. Maybe thats not wrong, but it sure isnt classy. Society says its classy nowadays to do that, but I sure as heck dont view it that way and never will.

Oh well. What can you do. Its not just the state of "women" that has declined. Its society as a whole. We're in a downward spiral in our society in lack or morals or anything for that matter. And sadly, that trend doesnt look like it will ever reverse.
OH YES! And ALL men dress in baggy pants hanging down to their knees with their underwear showing, dirty t-shirts, caps on backwards...ALL men dress like that and it's a sign of society's degeneration brought on by women wearing short skirts and having a job like any RESPONSIBLE ADULT.......it's all women's FAULT...because OBVIOUSLY, men can't be personally responsible for their own actions and have to have someone to blame to make their tiny selves feel better.

Default What caused more harm to women? Anti-choice people

I believe anti-choice people have caused more harm to women, and thus society, than any movie.

Your version of the past doesn't match up with reality. The reality was my grandmother getting married at sixteen and having eleven children. The reality was my grandmother finding out around child #4 that her husband was unfaithful, and his excuse was that she was pregnant so much, he had to get sex somewhere else. The reality was my grandmother working herself down to a nub raising all those children, running a farm, and taking in laundry and sewing for extra money, while my grandfather travelled as a salesman and gave presents to his lady friends on his route. The reality was my grandmother, eight months pregnant with child #5, coming home from delivering laundry to the big houses in town, to discover another woman in her bed in her home with her husband. And when she tossed the bum and his floozy out, the priest came by to tell my grandmother what a failure she was as a wife.

Your version of the past doesn't match up with reality. The reality was my great-grandmother being married off as chattel, given no choice in the matter of her husband. Because arranged marriages of younger women to successful older businessmen was just the way it was done.

Your version of the past doesn't match up with reality. Women didn't leave abusive husbands. They stayed because of the children. And they still do. I know women who think of their husbands as the boss. Who always do what the husband wants to do. Eat what the husband likes. I have a grandmother who never learned to drive, because she never went anywhere without her husband, and he always drove. Even when he was so blind he couldn't see streetlights, and she had to tell him to stop--stop!--STOP!! as they approached intersections.

Life isn't better when you have to suppress who you are and what you want because you have a husband. Life isn't better when you are always #2 in a relationship. Life isn't better when your husband and family don't respect you. The feminism movement wasn't about getting women out of the house and into the workplace. It was about letting women have a choice.
