Not true. France strongly backed Israel until the Six Day War when De Gaulle reversed French policy because he thought the Arabs would win based on the size of their military and how well equipped their militaries were.

In the Suez crisis, Israel and France were on the same side (so was Britain) and the US supported Nasser.

Mirage III's were the planes flown (ineptly) by the attacking Arab countries (as well as Migs). France has long been a supporter of the Arab states in the middle-east. They are totally dependant on Arab countries for oil. Or, in Muslim terms they "pay the jizia in willing submission and feel themselves subdued". Good little dhimmis.
I think it has more to do with France having been a former colonial power in the Islamic world. Jihadis have VERY long memories.

In any case, if jihadis took down the Eiffel Tower I would feel great sympathy for the people of Paris and France as a whole, even though I extremely disapprove of Sarko's deportations of Roma.

I would definitely be sad if the Eiffel Tower was blown up. Be a shame to destroy an interesting landmark like that, especially since I haven't seen it in person yet.

The ones who tried to blow it up are horrible people. But your wording is off. It is not muslims, it is terrorists with defective hearts, who happen to be muslim.
Do you think if the arab peninsula and their Holy lands were not illegally occupied they would be doing this? That is the question everyone needs to ask. (btw the answer is no)

The crazies of the Muslim world (and the crazy wing of Islam in Europe and elsewhere, which does NOT represent anything near the majority of Muslims outside of certain countries) have gripes against France - and Britain, and Spain, and the Netherlands, and Russia, and all other former colonial powers who ruled over Muslims - long predating western troops being stationed in the Arabian Peninsula.

It might go like this. 9/11 conspiracy theories rife in Muslim world - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101002/ap_on_re_eu/eu_attacks_the_theories - broken link)

Substitute France for the U.S in this story.
