To answer the question no one seems to want to answer. Of course it is wrong (if you really are a progressive) to spend money frivolously. Even if it is corporate money. When there is so much suffering in the world. To answer any other way is hypocritical.
I stand by my position that Oprah's gift giving shows were in poor taste given the fact that so many families became homeless this year. I am now leaving for a Christmas party.
Oh puhlease............The Oprah show started off as a rival to the Springer show (and made her reputation as a daytime host doing exactly the same type of stunts as Springer is known for).
Kudos to her for deciding enough was enough and she made her show into a vehicle for good works ala her Angel Network etc.
If she wants to use her LAST season to promote some sponsors and give away some goodies to those who according to you are apparently "undeserving" of same, then good.
