"Mr Preddy booked a room at the B&B in 2008 and Mrs Bull assumed he was bringing his wife with him. When he arrived with his civil partner Mr Hall, the pair were refused a double room by the manager Bernie Quinn, who instead offered them seperate single rooms."

"Outside court Mrs Bull said the result was a disappointment. 'Our double-bed policy was based on our sincere beliefs about marriage, not hostility to anybody,' she said."

Gay Couple Win B&B Discrimination Case Against Christian Owners, Damages Of £1,800 Each | UK News | Sky News

Way to go!!! Too bad this type of discrimination against gays and lesbians - the denial of service at a hotel, restaurant, dry cleaner, etc. based on sexuality or perceived sexuality - is legal throughout most of the United States. When will the US stop treating gays and lesbians as second class citizens?

That is a little different. It's their business, their rules. They were not denied, just they had to stay in seperate rooms. If they didn't like it, then they can leave. I would, if I didn't like the rules.

Every bit as disgusting - not to mention illegal to do in Key West.

But but but but.....It was a GAY B&B....that excuses it.

As a gay man, I don't see what the fuss was about, if the guys didn't like the ladies policy, then get their a$$es in their car and find another hotel. No need for a lawsuit.

Whatever happened to the term "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone"??

I guess it now means "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, except blacks, latinos, gays, asians, sex offenders, drug addicts, convicts, etc"

Another attack on religion by the Homosexual agenda, they looked and targeted these people because of the notice on their site, what a shameful display from the Homosexuals. They are just soo tolerant of others beliefs.

What if they'd been discriminated against because of, oh lets say, religion?

Legal in most of the US:

Clerk: Thanks for checking in, I assume you two men want separate rooms?
Patrons: No thanks, a single room with one bed is sufficient
Clerk: Oh, you're gay. We don't rent rooms to gay people. Please leave.

Illegal in all of the US:

Clerk: I see your limo says just married.
Patrons: Yes, we just got married at the Catholic Church down the road.
Clerk: Oh, you're Christians. We don't rent rooms to Christians. Please leave.

Why is it Christians (or Muslims, or Jews, or Blacks, or the handicapped, or the French, etc, etc, etc) get special rights, but gays don't?

To me that seems a violation of this principle: "No State shall...deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

100% the right decision from the court imo. Somebody's private beliefs should play as little a role as possible in public life.

I agree, TXTwizter. It was their home so they should have the right to refuse service and make the rules.

But why would a gay couple want to give their money to that particular B&B business anyway if the proprietors didn't want them there or respect them?

Sorry but they new the rules these people had about marriage, they were posted on the site when they booked the room, homosexual activists had already complained, they knew before they went there, it was all a set up, better read your article.
