I don't feel it's the government's responsibility to meet every need and want of it's citizens. That is the very mentality that has brought us where we are today - $14 Trillion in debt.

There is NO need and hardly a WANT for HSP, just another bad liberal idea that will cost at least 4 times what they say it will.

Where does the US Constitution grant Congress the authority to create a high-speed rail system, or fund a train of any kind for that matter?

The last time I checked, the US Constitution granted Congress the power to "establish Post Offices and Post Roads." Please tell me they are not going to pretend that a rail system has something to do with delivering the mail.

Is it any surprise that Congress does not give a damn about their restrictions and limitations under the US Constitution, when we do not care either?

The market will develop alternative fuels when they are needed. If there is a buck to be made by meeting the needs of society, society's needs get met every time.

There isn't a public rail or bus transit system anywhere that pays for itself. All of them are subsidized by tax payers or vehicle owners. So how will taking more money out of the pockets of tax payers and vehicle owners improve our economy?

Gees, all that rail and only on the east coast. No wonder easterners want to be like Europe. They already have the rail system just like Europe. Meanwhile, all the western states have to pay so easterners can be just like Europe. What a bunch of pathetic parasites.
