You actually have to stop in such a way that the vehicle rocks back.

The phrase "9 your fine, 10 your mine" is commonly used. If you are 9 miles over the limit or less, cops generally don't bother. 10 or more then you are playing with fire. Would it bother you if they did raise every speed limit by 10mph BUT made more efforts to enforce people going 1mph over the limit?
Good question, we all know if this ever happened, the same people would still be here complaining about that one stupid cop that gave them a ticket for going 1 over.

Ok...you got me...so I'll rephrase my first sentence to say that I doubt it happens very often! How's that?

The police aren't there to protect you specifically. By writing you a ticket for breaking the law, they hope to be protecting everyone else.

The cops around my area have been writing "speeding" tickets for doing 1 mph over the posted limit....1 mph!! Speedometers can vary more than that! I feel so much safer!

Where I live they have a section on the highway where everyday there is a unmarked Dodge Charger that pulls over people left and right. It is about making money, and who decides to make tickets so gawd damn expensive? Mother ****ers...........
Use signals correctly and don't speed, and you'll avoid tickets in both the above cases. I just don't understand what's so hard to understand about that. Either obey traffic laws or stop complaining about the consequences when you don't.

It's not the police's responsibility to ensure your speedometer is calibrated correctly.

I don't intend to say that there aren't officers that are ridiculous; of course there are some that are overbearing, as it sounds like you have found. There are bad examples of any profession.
