It seems to have escaped your attention that due to the unions' excessive demands, non-union middle class workers (who VASTLY outnumber public employees) are being crushed by union-stoked sky high property taxes that leave them with nothing but peanuts - if they're lucky.

It's a numerical certainty. The unions have crushed too many in their greed, so it's game over for the unions.

The median teacher salary in Wisconsin is $52,000, they did have great benefits, and have agreed to fund more of the health care benefits and pension programs to reduce their take home pay by 8%. Its the handouts to the wealthy CEO's, that just punched an even bigger whole into the deficit that is what the problem is.

False premise. School districts and other local public services are funded through the property tax. The problem for many people IS the union-stoked sky high property taxes that are CRUSHING the middle class.

CEO's aren't getting a property tax break. EVERYONE pays, or they lose their property.

Doing a bit of a search, the median property taxes in Wisconsin are a shade under $3,000, with about 40-50% of it (depending on where) being school taxes.

Anyway this really isn't about property taxes. Walker is citing the budget, and not property taxes and while he is citing the budget as a problem with the deficit, he is cutting revenues by giving the tax breaks to wealthy CEO's.

It most certainly IS about property taxes in addition to having to fix Doyle's deficit. You haven't been paying attention to the REAL PROBLEMS local taxing bodies have been having in WI.

Governor Scott Walker announced today that his budget repair bill would save local governments and school districts at least $724 million dollars annually ($1.44 billion over the biennium).
"Our budget repair bill will save local governments and school districts hundreds of millions of dollars enabling them to maintain services even as the state grapples with a $3.6 billion deficit," said Governor Scott Walker. "These savings, in addition to the savings that local governments can realize through collective bargaining reform, are a vital part of our budget repair bill. The Senate Democrats need to come do their jobs so we can lock in savings at the local level and avoid thousands of layoffs."
Under the Governor's budget repair bill, school districts would save $488 million ($976 million over the biennium). Municipalities would save $98 million ($196 million over the biennium). Counties would save $64 million ($128 million over the biennium). Technical colleges would save $58 million ($116 million over the biennium). Special districts would save $15.5 million ($31 million over the biennium).

Default If this is your topic, then what is the alternative?

And this happens all within Walker's first 60 days in office! Holy Crap! Who else or what else is Walker going to sell WI out to?
What is the alternative to running these vast energy complexes?

What do you suggest?...Give opportunities to small businesses?

Do you have any idea of what it takes to run an energy grid?...People like to have their lights and heat without interruptions...How many companies are in existence that can run these energy complexes, at a reasonable rate?

Who would you be opening the bidding to?...Some guy in his basement that thinks he can handle it with his brilliant computer knowledge?...

This isn't the dawn of the dot-com era...We can't afford to hand over our power grids to a couple of young people with a dream...

Let's see your list of alternative companies that can handle the job....And then ask yourself if it is necessary to go through a bidding process, or if it would be a damned big risk to trust just anyone with everyone's homes, hospitals, schools, factories, water. waste and other utilities that rely on a steady supply of energy to keep functioning.

$48,000 in donations does not buy a politician's common sense and integrity...It's a typical donation.

By the way - other than perhaps some environmentalists, is there any large scale groups of complaints against the Koch Brothers businesses?...Enough to describe them as dangerous?

It seems that they employ many people of all backgrounds, and give much opportunity to many businesses, big and small, and much work to many communities.

They also help feed this nation and many throughout the world through their businesses and products.

Everyone is wringing their hands about the economy, and what's going to happen in the future....It is companies like the Koch Brothers that keep money flowing in this economy, and bring income into this country so that our balance of debt does not get so out of hand that the country will actually go broke...

Certainly not a compliment you can hand to the "progressives" in this country, nor the unions that don't have an idea of how this country earns income to keep afloat - Too many (but not all) union people care about only making sure that they clock out not a minute too late, and that they don't do an iota of work that is not their responsibility in their contracts.

(PS - I was in a couple of unions for years, and I was disgusted with the mentality of the leaders and members - Talk about taking the country broke....)
