You see $50 in someones hands and it's beyond comprehension that might be their rent money or payment for utility bill. That 'wad' might be in lieu of having not enough to justify a bank account because they really are that close to the ground hand to mouth. Most poor I've known go shopping once a month because the money arrives all at once and multiple trips cost more. They often have no cars and rely on someone taking them to walmart, or resort to shopping daily because one or two bags is all they can manage on public transportation. It's much worse for those who are elderly or disabled. This presumes any real market (non- convenience store) is remotely near their housing, having public transport intersecting it's path, or the hours of operation for the bus/ store having compatibility with their work hours.
Most poor people I've known are working poor until wackaloon regulations damn them for doing and damn them for not doing. Social workers themselves have complained about those kinds of policies contradicting mission statement and pushed hard for legislative reforms but when there's opportunity for malevolent freaks to turn it into a poison pill, the reasonable reforms get corrupted. What does "chronically punished" mean? There's punishment and reward. In order for something to be considered a punishment (which means a certain action makes the behavior less likely to happen in the future), it must happen EVERY SINGLE TIME in order to be effective.
And just because a job is hard, or labor intensive, or boring, doesn't mean it serves as a punishment to the person performing the task, especially if it is interspersed with positives or neutrals.

They've gone out of their way to keep single welfare mothers OUT of jobs training programs. They prefer to keep women as ignorant as possible because they're easier targets for predators. Single female head of household is not a statement of who gave birth, if that female was married prior to pregnancy, or if it was an accidental pregnancy she decided against aborting.
It's about creating real consequences for actions by eliminating the possibility of abortion.
There already are real consequences for women. It's inherent to their physiology and that is NOT a choice, it's reality. It's not inherent to male physiology. I suspect you aren't female.

First of all, genius, I'm not a guy.
Second of all, compassion is not just something to be given to certain people or groups. Where's the compassion to the hard working americans that are struggling to put food on their table, gas in their car, and pay for healthcare, while they're paying taxes to support those that are a lot less hard working? Or paying for the Cowboy Poetry Festival? Or a frog statue? The left never offers those folks any sort of compassion. You only qualify if you're a group that is willing to be bought and paid for.
Entitlements and handouts are NOT compassion.
