Nope, don't change the topic. We are talking about rights. If healthcare should be a right so should food. Where's my food??

Fannie Mae Mortgages are usually only available to those in the lower/middle sections of society.. They do have limits on how much they will guarantee after all
LOL, 400+K is lower/middle? 400+K requires a minimum of 130K of combined income, well above the median if I'm correct. With only one working spouse that is WELL above the median.

Just calling a spade a spade. Fannie Mae is not available to lower income folks because they do not have the ability to save and middle income folks artificially drive up the values because of the subsidization.

Or, life for that matter. I don't see "the right to life" in the constitution.

Good point, a car can be dangerous and kill me. I should have a right to the safest car. Someone please point me to a Volvo dealership. Will they give me one in red?

LOL, it's right next to the right to privacy.

The founders were kinda into life though. Does life, liberty and pursuit happiness ring a bell?

Housing is a necessity also. Nationalized homeownership is not as readily available to the poor as it is to the lower middle and middle class.

You said it was unavailable to the poor.. $400K is a MAXIMUM amount.. Whats the minimum about? By your own admission $400K homes arent being bought by the poor, and the fact that its well above the median, that depends on where you live. $400K in NYC wont buy much..

And you also said its not available to those without a down payment, also false. Thats why they do 80/20 mortgages..

So long as it doesn't interfere with another's right to life, we're good.

Why did you change your standard midstream from "housing" to homeownership? You arent saying they are one of the same? But now that you say housing is a necessity, are you now saying we hare a right to housing?

You don't have to live in NYC. The minimum amount is irrelevant because you are required to put 20% down in most cases and have superlative credit. The poor are eliminated from this government cheese. Fannie Mae needs to be eliminated yesterday, but keeping it around neutralizes arguments that the poor get the cheese. The rich do also (flippers, investors getting rental cash flow, etc). HUD offers grants to section 8 homeowners. The poor cannot access the down payment necessary to obtain this cheese but the upper middle and rich can.

Maybe in 2005.
