Wondering what everyone's thoughts are. This is a tough call for me. First shot was 100% justified. The follow-up shots made him a murderer, but perhaps life in prison is too harsh a sentence.
He should not have gone back and shot the kid on the ground. The first shots made sense to me. He should have kept his gun on the guy and called police.

Yup.
Shooting someone laying prone on the ground - possibly even unconcious - who is unarmed, is MURDER.
Pretty clear-cut.
The only thing a bit iffy are POSSIBLE "mitigating circumstances". To me a case could have been made that it was not premeditated but rather "impulsive". I think a case COULD possibly be made for that - but NOT that it was "justified".
"An Oklahoma pharmacist has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for first-degree murder in the shooting death of a teenager who tried to rob the south Oklahoma City pharmacy where he worked."
I'd have given him a medal for removing a public menace. Technically, maybe he should not have done it. In truth, he did the community a huge favor by eliminating this piece of sh*t from society.
It doesn't call out if the robber was armed. I suspect he was but the lib media wouldn't say.
The sentence was too harsh.
OK, let's hear from the libs who will say "But it was *just* a child!"
Actually, with the possibility of parole, I think the jury in the conviction and the judge in the sentencing got this one exactly right. The OP should study up on the case.
Then, in a scene recorded by the drugstore's security camera, he went behind the counter, got another gun, and pumped five more bullets into Parker as he lay on the floor unconscious.
I'd say this part was too much. It'd be one thing if he'd have just watched the guy die while waiting for paramedics, but another gun and 5 more times? Yah....he probably deserves to be punished. That's not self-defense.
