Certainly they have plenty of pews (aka benches) and could afford a few sleeping bags from those Sunday collections.

WWJD?

Ummm.................. unlike liberals, we do.

Our church has a homeless shelter adjacent to the church (the congregation is fairly well to do). The church is open 24:7 and the homeless have complete access to the church. There is a policy against sleeping in the church per se, thus the beds and sleeping arrangements adjacent to the church. I think that is entirely appropriate, as people would feel uncomfortable praying in someone's bedroom.

This shows (again) that very few liberals actually give a damn about the well being of their fellow man and are more concerned with false "cocktail party" sympathy. Ask a liberal to donate time or money for their fellow man, and they will turn their backs. They truely are disgusting hypocrites.

No, I don't. But I have visited several and their doors seem to be locked far too often when there are those in need who could use a respite from the heat or cold.

Does this mean you're doing nothing more than trolling trying to start a fight?

Explains it all.

Churches are a place of worship, not a hotel, brothel, etc. Mosques don't even do this either, so why the beef with just churches?

No, I just volunteered at a food bank for three years and taught homeless youth for a year, hypocrite that I am.

I don't see why it's not appropriate to allow people to sleep on benches in the sanctuary. Jesus would approve of this.

Because the right wing wants to eliminate social safety nets while at the same time not opening doors to safety nets.

Does this mean you cannot discuss this topic? Have I touched a nerve?

No, I really want to understand this whole thing.

Simple answer. Churches are not built to be a shelter and so are not approved to be a shelter. There are insufficient toilets, some don't even have showers or baths, and other city/state code requirements for a building to qualify as a shelter. Also, the pews are bolted down so there'd be no room for cots.

So you're just trolling then? By the way, Christianity is not exclusive to the right wing, and the local churches in Berkshire, England also have their doors locked at night. This isn't an American thing. You have a problem with the church and just disguising it with social safety nets

Thank you. I was about to type this, and according to building regulations and tax codes, churches and shelters are different. If I wanted to convert a house into a dental clinic, I would need to get a permit for that, for example

BTW some people are homeless because they CHOOSE to be homeless.

Granted there are homeless that are temporarily down and out that need a helping hand, but some of these losers will expect you to carry them and families for generations.

The homeless losers I see around LA have money for beer and cigarettes but they need help???

You can give these defects a million dollars and they'll still end up back on the streets. You need to ask the " Churches " this question.

While you're at it ask the Catholic Church why it tells ignorant poor idiots not to use birth control and ( WWJW ) why would Jesus want them to continually breed and bring more helpless children into poverty to starve and suffer when these idiots can't take care of themselves and the children they already have?
Oh, Jesus has nothing to do with it? Then, pulease, close all the doors to the Christian churches - oh, and their tax free status while you are at it.
