For some (most likely older blacks who never imagined a "black" president could come during their lifetime) yes, there is a racial component. Others most likely just think he's the better person for the job during that time and of course a lot of black and white folks wanted to change history.

Same here. Black unemployment rate still remains in the double digits. Hopefully, everyone who voted for him including me learned their lesson.

I don't believe Obama has been a good president, in fact he's been very mediocre. But I don't believe Mccain would've been much better.
I personally think neither Obama or McCain had the juice to pull the economy out of the toilet. Obama has tried hard but I think he is in over his head. I'm not sure anyone on the GOP who could win (I'm a Ron Paul guy but doubt the GOP would nominate him) has the juice to fix the economy either.

So it's obamas fault blacks get the boot first usually in jobs?
Yes, of course, because the 12% of black people in this country totally swept obama into the whitehouse. If it werent for the overwhelming leverage that 12% of the population has in the electorate, the other 88% would have surely won and made McCain the president. Yes, that makes total sense. 12% is practically a majority. No wonder Obama won by a landslide.
It was clear that as the election of '08 picked up whoever won the Dem nomination would be the favorite to win the White House. Blacks make up 30 to 40 percent of Dem primary voters. If 90% of Black Dems vote for one candidate in the primary said candidate only needs about a quarter of the non black vote to win. That is pretty much how Obama captured the nomination.
The re-elected Marion Barry after his famous, "The ***** set me up" escapade.
I was watching BETs American Gangster show about Rayful Edmond. They touched on Marion's drug sting. Evidently it made him more popular because the blacks in DC felt he was one of them, a fellow crack user. Go figure.

You know what they say about repeating the same mistakes.
This really has gotten old and has been addressed many times over. Part of the problem with the GOP is that they constantly insult the intelligence of minorities, especially blacks by making statements which imply that the average black voter is too stupid to make an informed decision. It is true that the majority of blacks vote democrat, it is not just about the president's race.
I haven't seen many posts bashing those who voted for and blindly supported Bush because he is Christian. Nor have I seen as many posts about how southern whites are more likely to vote Republican. Why not address any voter that votes based on party alone but knows nothing about the candidate? Why make this a race thing? The right is constantly insulting people and making vasts generalizations and when they are called on it, they accuse people of playing the race card. It's not hard to see through this and this behavior alienates people. Why would black people want to vote for a group who insults their intelligence?
