Under the current Michigan law, if you are 15 years and 364 days old and have sex, you are a victim. If you are a day older, you are not. Do you suggest that this makes sense?
Yup, there are good people in all groups...so? That doesn't make them all good....they punished a man who had raped his sister for years by no letting him attend church for three weeks....that is sick? AND her family allowed it to continue ...
YOU don't live with them ...you don't know what goes on in their society.
They ARE NO different than any other group so I wish people would quit trying to make them into saints because they act goofy, use outhouses and don't bathe!

I pretty much agree with you. They are just a people who are stuck in a different era -- except when convenient not to be.
Not that they are the only ones who are - there are people still stuck in the 1960's, and people stuck in other decades.
And I can't understand their refusal to use deodarnt or bathe often when it's 90 degrees and 90% humidity and they're wearing those thick black outfits. I can only feel sorry for their hired driver who has to drive them from point A to point B because they don't believe in automobiles sort of.

There has to be a defining line for laws. 16 to drive, 18 to vote, 21 to drink. It means it is not prosecutorial if you do it over that age.
The Amish have no problem profiting off of puppy milling though. Sorry, but they lost all my respect once they (some) decided to make careers out of animal abuse.
