The extremely rich certainly do have creative ways to expand their wealth. This is a very interesting article on Alan Grayson's experience with Derivium. It is shocking how someone who is so shrewd could be taken in by a ponzi scheme. Now his consulting company is suing Wachovia Securities.
For starters, its given half witted idiots like George Clooney and Angelina Jolie the bright idea that because people pay money to see them in movies, they should somehow have the ability to shape US and global policy.
Yeah, we can't have anybody sticking up for anybody in a different social class. That would be awful.
Being rich is not the problem and that's not what people are complaining about. It's how the extremely rich--a group Allan Grayson probably does not belong to--get their money, get all the advantages, write the laws to benefit themselves, tilt the table in their direction to assure they keep everything, and basically steer the economy at everyone else's expense without being held accountable. With the average person working harder now than they did 20 or 30 years ago, why do they have LESS than they did 20 or 30 years ago? Our system is deliberately unfair, made that way by years of abuse by people who never served their country and hold no allegiance to our national boundaries. We allowed this rape to continue because we didn't notice until now how badly we'd been violated. The critical number has either been reached or is about to be reached wherein the masses stand up against this tyranny.
Being rich isn't the problem. Having so few be so extremely rich while everyone else works their hands to the bone is why there's outrage in the streets. If Alan Grayson, a millionaire, understands that reality and is willing to do something about it, I find no basis for claiming hypocrisy.
I constantly see "conservatives" on here and other places bemoan "socialism" and call for "personal responsibility" and call for the end of "welfare." Yet when the topic of corporate welfare and bailouts is brought up they have very little to say.
I'm a moderate but most of my posts here lean right.
I'm totally against any bailouts. So you aren't going to get any irony points on me.

Yet when the topic of corporate welfare and bailouts is brought up they have very little to say. Look I don't like anyone who cheats the welfare system, I think at some point they need to be cracked down on. But they're small potatoes at this point. Until some of the crooked banksters, along with their enablers in government, see the inside of a jail cell it's a waste of resources to go after Joe Blow gaming the system for a 100 extra bucks a month. It's a joke that so many demonize the poor for taking government money yet idealize "jobs creators" who take in more from the government dole than any welfare mooch could ever dream of.
I think you may have selective listening/reading skills then. Most if not all conservatives want nothing to do with corporate bail outs and corporatism. Now career politicians on both the Democratic and Republican side on the other hand are all for these things.

That is true for many celebrities. However, they don't take it, people give them the stage to express their opinions.
That being said, these guys do not have the same impact on our lives as badly managed wall street investment firms.

Its one thing when you give them the stage with your $10 for a movie ticket, but when our POTUS and the UN give them the stage WITH influence, that is a totally different ballgame.
