Why should any 19 year old (male or female) be charged with having consensual sex with a 16 year old (male or female)? Why is that a crime?

Because a 19 year old is an adult and a 16 year old is not.... at least in some states. Each state has varying consensual sex laws. So it depends on where exactly they are dealing with this and what the laws are.

Statutory rape. Interest of society in protecting minors from predatory adults. There's usually a provision stating that if the minor and the adult are within a certain age range. 16 and 19 doesn't usually result in charges being brought, it's more for the 15 year old and her 35 year old boyfriend type of situation... Who knows, maybe the Beebz is trying to scare her away from the paternity suit.
