So do you believe that gay people can magically change their brain structure and functioning and become heterosexual?

PET and MRI show differences in cerebral asymmetry and functional connectivity between homo- and heterosexual subjects

Symmetry Of Homosexual Brain Resembles That Of Opposite Sex, Swedish Study Finds

Gay people exist. Just because you may be uncomfortable with that fact, it won't ever make them cease to exist. Accept them as fellow human beings who are a little different to you.... or not.

There are also millions of Americans who object on religious grounds. you liberals seem to want to pretend that these people don't matter. But I can tell you with certainty that they will matter in the coming elections.

There will come a time that people on the right...who believe in God and who believe in the traditions and customs that have been borne out of this society will finally say ENOUGH. you lefties don't realize that YOU are the minority from the standpoint of ideology. The difference between you people and those on the right/conservative side of the aisle is that you have bigger mouths.

Well put.Rick Perry will be getting my vote in the elections assuming he gets there .

Rick Perry is done, and he knows it. Therefore, I'm not going to get all worked up by the bigot's comments. The reactions here are pretty funny, though. A comment like Perry's screams "Come on weak, sexually insecure people! I still need your support!" Too funny.

This is over-the-top - even for Rick Perry. Just terrible. He says equal rights for gays are a "war on traditional American values".

Maybe he'll get the endorsement of the John Birch Society, but will there be anybody else?
Maybe people should actually read the article. There is a modicum of truth to what he says, but we need to look at it more closely.

Quote:
Promoting special rights for gays in foreign countries is not in America’s interests and not worth a dime of taxpayers’ money.”
Please note, the word "SPECIAL".

Now before you all jump all over me, I am NOT defending Rick Perry, and I definitely would not vote for him, but to take his comments out of context is also outrageous.

First of all MANY countries are a bit annoyed with the U.S., because we DO stick our noses in their business and tell them how they should treat people, and how to act, and what they shouldn't say, etc etc etc.

These are differing countries. We cannot tell them how to act, what laws they can and cannot pass, how to treat people. WE CAN withdraw any aid we provide them, stop doing business with them, treat them as "persona non grata", and possibly have them re-evaluate what they are doing.

In a memorandum released today, Obama said foreign aid should be used by U.S. agencies operating abroad to “promote and protect the human rights of LGBT persons,” including combating the criminalization of LGBT status or conduct by foreign governments, along with protecting LGBT asylum seekers and refugees.
Actually Foreign aid should be WITHDRAWN by all U.S. Agencies from all foreign governments who violate ANY human rights, not just against LBGT, but against whites, blacks, asians, men, women, children, etc etc ad nauseam,.

considering the fact that some foreign governments are condoning violence and murder for their GLBT citizens, I don't see how Obama's rule is unreasonable. Foreign aid to these governments should always have some strings attached in my opinion. In fact, Perry might have made more sense if he had said to end foreign aid ENTIRELY. Are Perry's followers this heartless? Would they have condoned foreign aid to Hitler's Germany when the Holocaust was occurring because they were Jews, gypsies, intellectuals and homosexuals?

America is a nation of secular laws. Deal with it.

Don't like it, move to somewhere in the Middle East, where you can use your fairy tale book of choice to exploit, kill, oppress anyone you like... in the name of GAWD and Baby Jeebus, AMEN!!

See, they accept that sort of anti-social, drone like behavior as normal over there. In fact, NOT speaking to invisible man in the sky at least 5 times a day is grounds for a beating in some places! PERFECT for the City-Data Christian Taliban to emulate!

Face it: You live in Western Society, which is rapidly going the OTHER WAY from your small minded worldview on this issue in particular.

Seriously, social conservatives are increasingly the bunions on the feet of democracy. Small, annoying, and hindering and slowing (but never stopping) the advancement of progress and freedom. But, because they are PAINFUL, too much attention is given to them.

Enjoy the days you have left on this issue. Like slavery, miscegenation, women's rights, rights for religious minorities... every bible based excuse for oppression will be cast aside, and the "new normal" will come about.

Hopefully he'll stick by his comments. If he does I'll give him another look.

And then Jesus will return and every knee will bow. And then comes judgement.
