Well, in my opinion, this is up to the parent.

However, my child has seen men kissing and married on TV and in real life. He has asked me if that was normal, and I tell him that while it is different from the normal human behavior, that it is perfectly fine and natural for them to like boys instead of girls, or girls instead of boys, depending on the circumstance.

Homosexuality is not normal, in the tense that normal means an every day occurrence such as "is it normal for people to buy bread." It is not a normal human behavior, much like people who are born with a genetic abnormality.

Being abnormal isn't a bad thing. I have blue eyes, and as a recessive genetic trait, its quite abnormal, just like people born with red hair, a third nipple, or being born homosexual.

Oh, and before someone says that genetics can't pinpoint a gay gene, there are millions of outside forces in the womb, such as hormones from the mother, radiation from a microwave, whatever that play a very important behavioral trait. Homosexuality is likely a combination of genetic variations, and womb environmental interactions.

Exactly. To make a comparison--disabled people are a minority of the population. Being disabled is not normal. In fact, in many cases it's not even natural because it's a result of injury, trauma, or environmentally-induced disease. But does that justify mistreating disabled people just because they are abnormal, and possibly even unnatural?

Even if it is argued that homosexuality is both abnormal and unnatural, that still does not justify intolerance and hatred towards gay people.

I see nothing wrong with teaching people tolerance for gay people, on the same basis of having tolerance for people with disabilities or people of another religion or philosophy, etc. It doesn't matter how something comes about, we are not justified in mistreating people based on something that makes them different.
