Hahaha .... never ceases to amaze me! If you are poor, or have no income, you don't owe any taxes. That's why the call it an income tax.

But out of curiosity, just how much tax do you think ... say a homeless person owes ... or someone unemployed, having no income to lay a tax?

Should we just exterminate the poor, the homeless, the unemployed? Just kill the darned freeloaders? Or should we put them in jail and spend more money punishing them for being poor and unable to pay their "fair share" ?

I swear

My grandparents and their generation sacrificed for the greater good. It's sad to see the patriots are all dying.

I will be happy to pay more in taxes when and IF the federal government reduces its size and cost to operate and does what it is supposed to do in accordance with the constitution of the United States. Until such time, I will take advantage of every legal means to avoid paying taxes to support a system that is corrupt. Furthermore, everyone needs to contribute. Everyone needs to have skin in the game. Regardless of how much or how little they make.

Wow, you are the master at misconstruing. Poor don't have "no" income, they just have less. Everybody who earns income should have to pay income tax, after a reasonable personal exemption. However, today, 47% of those with incomes, and who files returns, pay nothing or less, in income taxes.

On the odd chance you are actually being serious (and it is hard to tell), if you have no income, obviously you owe no income tax, but of course nobody (except you and other strawman-crafters) are talking about them.

Out of curiosity, how many strawmen, like the above post, do you give birth to in an average day?

Everyone should pay income tax. In fact the percentage should be the same for the poor and the wealthy. I completely support giving the poor some sort of credit to ease their tax burden, but nobody should be exempt from shouldering part of the load.

At the same rate, the wealthy would still pay a lot more than the poor.

Opportunity exists in this country at every turn. Determined people who are willing to work harder and smarter make a very good living here. We have a large portion of our population that believes somebody should "help" them simply because they are unwilling to get up and help themselves. We are NOT helping them by giving them a handout. We are simply creating more people who think they are entitled to a free ride.

I would also be happy to pay more in taxes if that meant they would stop using our money to fund foreign militaries and to fight wars that have no justification (while they deny treatment to the young soldiers that return). Wouldn't it be nice if they just used it to fix up the roads, make sure everyone got basic healthcare, give even kids from "poor" neighborhoods a decent basic education, and ensure our elderly wouldn't be left to fend for themselves when they no longer can?
p.s. people who make WAY more than I do should not be paying way less in taxes (percentage wise).

There's that class war viewpoint again... How noble of you that you would hypothetically select an arbitrary number to pay "your fair share" to Uncle Sam while calling those the media has told you about who all evade taxes and sell out Main St for profits on Wall St blah blah blah.

The problem isn't a tax rate or a class issue (although they'd like you to think so, helps keep them in power), the problem isn't that some people have become extremely wealthy (and many people have become moderately wealthy), the problem is the Leviathan known as the U.S. Federal government has become belligerent and is out of control with the public coffers.
