People say they want our schools to improve everywhere I go and look. They petition for better health care and better roads. Many desire universal medicare because we've seen the faults in the regular system. Teachers, police officers, firefighters, social workers, military personnel, and government workers all demand higher salaries. Countless Americans crave these amenities, yet nobody wants to pay the tax dollars to support them. Isn't that ironic how so many want these services without their taxes raised?

How else do you think they'll come about? Do you honestly think Bill Gates, Ted Turner, Donald Trump, or Rupert Murdoch will spend their earnings to support these programs? Isn't it ironic how few and far between Americans are willing to pitch in? Further, I hear them harp about taxes in Europe and Canada being sky high. Newsflash, everybody! Those nations have superior medicare and education compared to ours. It's amazing how they've managed to prolong and improve their compatibility after their economies were destroyed during World War II. Has anyone else taken note of how many Americans want a deal for nothing?

We've been throwing more money at education for years. Throwing more money at education is not the answer.

Who are all these people you hear that want the Government to provide more?

I want the Government to provide less. Quit wasting money and lower taxes.

It's called too many people reaping the benefits of those that actually pay into the "system".

Work harder folks, the "less fortunate" are depending on you.

We pay plenty in taxes for all you mention. Problem is the overlords put in office are more interested in their own arses and those of their bundlers and buddies instead of their constiuents. Sadly the same idiots vote em back in and complain yet again. Too many stupid people running around but that is what the dems have been trying to infuse the population with for years. It seems to be working. How else could some idiot like obama get elected and still supported??

Actually we've been cutting money from education for years and pouring it into defense. That all started under Reagan. Many schools in inner cities are way underfunded which is one of many reasons why they're turning into dropout factories. Texas has laid off hundreds of thousands of teachers due to them cutting back on education.

Exactly. The USA throws far more money at education than any other country in the world and the results are worse schools. Very much like the way our government is throwing money at poverty and poverty just gets worse and worse a problem.

After a while you begin to realize that money really isn't everything, throwing money at a problem doesn't automatically fix it.

Who are all these people? Why many of them are CEO's that expect the government to give them bailouts and complain about people living on welfare. For every one penny they spend on social welfare, they squander $100 on corporate handouts. Others would be the Department of Defense. I love how so many gripe about government being too big, but they're the first to try to outlaw abortion and ban gay marriages. In addition, these are the same folks moaning about Obama cutting down on defense spending when he's actually doing away with pork-barrel spending.

I agree! There are too many people on Wall Street reaping all the benefits. Trickle down economics have been proven ineffective and only beneficial towards the rich that want a plutocracy where everything is done by them. You aren't kidding. We depend on the "less fortunate" to spend all their tax dollars so CEO's can get more handouts.

Barack Obama got elected because he got more votes and he had a plan to get us out of Iraq. McCain would've had us there for another four years or longer. While I agree with many politicians being in power too long, I blame mostly lobbyists for having too much power. They should place term limits on ALL politicians and the amount of campaign finance they can receive. How they run their platform should be up to them and not corporations.
