I'd call that a moron.

My mother, who now passed, was an LPN for a private practice. One of the partners specialized in internal medicine and gastroenterology . Obviously, being a physician, had her PhD. She perforated an obscene number of patients during practice...And one conversation with her would totally remove any doubts as to why.
First off I think there is a difference between being a irresponsible and being a moron.

Secondly, in regards to the bolded part it might help to know what a PhD is. Physicians have MDs (Doctor of Medicine). A PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) is completely different just as a JD (Juris Doctor/Doctor of Law) is entirely different from the first two. MDs by and large prepare you to work in medicine often as a physician, JDs prepare you to practice law as an attorney, and PhDs by and large prepare you to work either in academia, or other highly specialized non academic positions in fields like history, education etc. Just because a person has an MD doesn't mean they have a PhD.

With that said with regards to physicians there does tend to be a lot of joking among people with JDs and PhDs about MDs think they know the former two fields better then the folks in them.

You can add to that the slew of monstrously stupid chain emails that are spewed out by RWNJs with no concept of honesty or logic and really, how can any educated person even want to be associated with that tripe?

Really the GOP has painted itself into the corner of portraying itself as the "real" America (read truck driving, gun-totin' good ol'boy and white) and basically telling everyone who doesn't fit into their mold that they are unpatriotic, leeches, and who-knows-what. So is it any surprise? They go and pi** almost everyone off and wonder why their numbers are dwindling?
Really Oh lets see have you ever been to Idaho? Not many silver spoon breedings happening here!
Really the Liberals are trying to paint the conservatives in a bad light and people except for the uneducated ones are getting wise to the harm this administration is doing to this country. And with stupid threads like this one it makes it easy.

Right MD...I stand corrected, however, the argument remains the same.

In light of your comment, however, passing the barrier to work in the medical field is a much more rigorous process as opposed to prepping and passing the bar, for example... And like you mentioned a PhD is a broader scope.

...I would think most people would expect MD's to be the most capable of the bunch.

Well I imagine MDs will certainly agree , but with that said I have actually ran into some MDs, who while not morons come pretty close when they stop talking about medicine, but as I said I have never ran into a moron with a PhD.

Now your just reading more into my comment then I intended, but that response does make me wonder, what exactly is your educational background? It seems you resent people with PhDs.
PhDs actually mean diddly squat. They are worthless outside theoretical academia. Most extreme leftists have PhDs because they've been brainwashed their whole school career and then in turn brain wash others into their warped fantasy liberal world view as teachers and professors.

Nope, the intelligent ones manipulate the uneducated since they are the ones that heavily into religion and racism. I never seen wealthy people outside raising hell about socialism and at the same time are quick to run to the VA hospital or complain that there medi-care does not cover certain illnesses

Santorum calls Obama a snob regarding higher education | Daily ...

Which is funny in itself since he went to a couple of colleges and graduated. Now I wonder just who was he directing this crap towards
