Damn.... Shooting a unarmed person is NOT "the rule of law".... arresting a person committing a crime and putting them though the legal system IS the rule of law........... taking drugs is now unfortunately common place here in the USA. To think that shooting at anyone who is committing a crime is OK is wrong....... shooting at someone who is a definite threat to your life is different but now it seems like the Law of the gun now overides any type of rule of law............ to shoot a unarmed person whether they are committing a crime or not is now becoming a epidemic here in the USA and NOT the road we, as a society, should be going down.....

When a burglar comes to your house at 4AM, you do not know if the burglar is a teen, adult, male, female, black or white. All you know is that there is somebody attempting to force their way into your house and your survival instincts kick in. I actually think the man showed great restraint in only firing 2 times. If it is me, I am shooting until the magazine is empty. I am sorry about the girl and I pray that the Lord will turn her around and maybe she gets another chance at life and learns from her stupidity. But I cannot fault the man who shot her.

There were several camps scattered around this area. The shooters were at one camp, the burglars were at another camp, apparently a short boat ride across a river. The shooters got into a boat, crossed over, and started shooting at the burglars. You cannot do this.

This case is fairly cut and dried. It was an egregious case of wrecklessness on the part of the shooter. It may even be adjudicated as intentional.

You are not "Defending yourself and your property" when you shoot a running person. Even our police cannot shoot a criminal running away. You can only shoot someone when they are attacking you. This girl may have been "robbing fish camps" but she was not attacking the shooter.

IMHO he should be charged with 2nd degree murder or aggravated manslaughter.

If people in America have this dire need to shoot other people, why don't they get a tazer? At least that way they could shoot without killing.

They could taze away till they're blue in the face..

Peace!

Summer Moody given less than 1 percent chance of survival after emergency surgery | al.com

MOBILE, Alabama -- Four days after being shot, 17-year-old Summer Moody was given a less than 1 percent chance of survival after her condition worsened Wednesday night, a family spokesman said today.
Moody was shot in the back of the head at about 4 a.m. Sunday, while she and three other teens were on Gravine Island.

The three teens who were with Moody on Sunday, Scott Byrd and Dillion Tyree of Stapleton and Daniel Parnell of Bay Minette, have been charged with first-degree burglary.

Earlier this week, Sheriff Huey Hoss Mack said the three are charged with breaking into two fishing camps on the island. Mack said two men on the island heard the teens and each fired one shot. One of the bullets hit Moody. No one else was injured in the incident.

Is this a joke? They were committing a robbery......

i would never have guessed that a .22 rifle could do that.

This "Lord" you are bothering with your prayers...what would he do if some kid broke into his house?

Shoot till the magazine is empty?

I don't think so. Do not claim to be a Christian when you don't follow the teachings of Christ ie.

"THOU SHALT NOT KILL".

My God, it's amazing what you people twist.

THE POINT is, if you run a red light, you COULD find yourself involved in an horrific accident, possibly killing yourself or someone else.

If you park in the wrong space, you could find yourself down at the tow lot paying an exorbitant amount of money to the towing thieves for your bad choices.

The POINT is, if you do something wrong, you are probably going to face some consequence due to your actions and sometimes those consequences are deadly.
