I would not same most of gov. workers are like that but I think we do have too many gov. workers and agencies. If the Dept. of Labor went away would anyone's life change?
I dont think they are inherently lazy, rather it's a byproduct of them not being held to the same standards and disciplinary measures as those in the private sector.

Labor protects all workers from illegal, unpaid overtime, etc.

Dept of Energy would be the better example.
The many support roles and bosses for the many fed law enforcement agencies. They should be merged and downsized.
Tobyhanna Army depot. Overtime is mandatory regardless of available work. This to justify spending the quartly alotment.
Good workers will always be good workers - government or private. Bad workers are less likely to be fired from a government job than their private sector counterparts.
The end result is you have a government of hard-working employees working even harder to cover for the slackers.
I think it's a testament to how far this country has fallen that everybody is now jealous of government workers.
