Is it so hard for you to comprehend that we've made a few advances in research in the last 40 years?
We have made advances in computing power. We can have all the computing power in the universe and it still won't make speculation fact. The problem with models is they are based on many assumptions about how our climate works and so they will produce results based on those assumptions. If the assumptions are wrong, the results will be as well. That is why there is the old saying "garbage in, garbage out". You can't plug in a bunch of unknowns and expect to get anything meaningful from it. You end up exactly where you started, which is... a guess crunching numbers to produce another guess.

I am not going to step into this steaming pile of postings and arguing with people who tend to hide their heads in that pile, denying it all or accusing others of being stupid for paying attention to the cold hard facts that build the case year after year.
Except that some scientists do not think global warming is here, in fact just the opposite:

New Ice Age to Begin in 2014 :: Russia-InfoCentre

Forecasters predict that a new ice age will begin soon. Habibullo Abdusamatov, a scientist from the Pulkovo Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences considers that the sharp drop in temperature will start on the Earth in 2014.

According to the scientist, our planet began to “get cold” in the 1990s. The new ice age will last at least two centuries, with its peak in 2055.

It is interesting, that the same date was chosen by the supporters of the theory of global warming. According to them, in 2005 the Earth will start to “boil”.

The expected decrease in temperature may have to become the fifth over the past nine centuries, reports Hydrometeorological Center of Russia. Experts call this phenomenon the “little ice age”, it was observed in the XII, XV, XVII, XIX centuries. This cyclicity makes the theory of upcoming cold weather in XXI century look like truth.

Second, as stated in an earlier thread, predictions from the 1970's are worthless, since in the interim we have accrued decades' worth of satellite images, deep core ice drilling and analysis, and supercomputers needed to crunch the highly complex data. It's like equating weather forecasting in 1973 withy today. It's a really foolish argument.

Pay close attention to the predictions made over the years as we have obtained these. You do realize the bulk of predictions made even today have failed to come even close?

For instance, the Arctic ice melt this season. Do you know what the NSIDC's predictions were? Look them up, they were completely off as well, even they didn't think it would be this low. Nobody got it right and anyone who has got it right in the past one year has missed it the next year. Point is, in many ways they are throwing darts at a wall in the success of the forecasts.

For one thing, we know that water vapor is the single most predominant green house gas, and yet we have no way to measure how much of it there is in our atmosphere. there are many different layers to our atmosphere, we do not know how much water vapor is present in the planet's lower troposphere, upper troposphere, stratosphere, so how can these models predict climate when so much data is missing, unknown, incorrectly applied and or assumed?

You can't even cite wiki in universities because it is so unreliable. Wiki while somewhat useful in non-confrontational subjects is for the most part a breeding ground for propaganda.

The way people argue here that global warming is real reminds me of the chemtrails crowd absolutely convinced the government is spraying us with chemicals....

We do not know how much longer our planet will continue to warm out of the ice-age, or if we are headed back into another little ice-age.
I don't recall saying anything about CO2, or any other cause for that matter...

If you read about the issue in more detail, you see that many of these activist groups don't even care if the science is correct or not. The whole thing is about political power and control, a means to an end for their cause. They don't mind telling lies to promote their cause, so to be honest, any real discussion with them is kind of pointless. It isn't the topic that is important to them, it is getting you to believe them so they can use it as leverage to promote their politics.
