I carry a handgun with me 90% of the time, I have one on the nightstand when I go to sleep at night. Do I like this ? No , I wish I didn't have to but these are tools I use to protect my family. Sure if I am ambushed in an alley from behind , chances are the gun won't do jack BUT I most likely wouldn't put myself in the alley in the first place. I'd rather carry a gun and at least have a better chance than just using kind words though.
In all likelihood, you live in an area where you have a better chance of a piano falling out of the sky on you than your family being attacked, but keep up the armed vigilance.
Pardon me if I find it ironic that a Russian puts down a system of another country. Do you not know your country's history? That is one system that nobody wants.
This is one system that MOST Russians dream about, after experiencing YOUR system (but without shootings... and wars...).

Yeah, isnt it great you can say such dumb things and still remain anonymous

Yeah, we all can dream. I dream of coming out in my back yard to see a unicorn one day, or that leprechans, will leave me a pot of gold, but until such time, I choose to live in reality.

However, I think it is too late for Gun control in American, there are just too many out there ...88 guns for every 100 people that's insane.
It's never too late to do some good. Russians had a lot of guns too at one time. Shortly thereafter it became almost zero. Hunting weapons remained, but control is strict - kept in a safe, carried unready...
I dont think I've ever met a 12 year old that hasnt been left home alone by then.
My neighbors boy has been left home alone during the summer since he was 11, the day care serve stops taking them at that age. He knew he could come here anytime he needed anything. Two other kids up the road I know have been left home alone for a few hours, they are age 8 and 10. Once again, they had my phone number of speed dial because its closer for me to get there, than the parents (or the cops for that matter)
I suppose you think the parents shouldnt be allowed to work.
The story doesn't say that. children of that age should have a nanny/babysitter, because children of that age are vulnerable, some even start house fires playing with matches and lighters.
We can't really blame a little girl, so it's about the system. My take - her parents should be prosecuted, and not lightly.
What system do you support which would not allow people to defend themself? My take, you should be put into a home and we should allow 20 criminals to ransack the home, and let them do whatever they want to you.. Just because...
The fact that the story didnt say that, didnt stop you from projecting that she was at the tavern or her boy friends either.

get a clue.
By 12, most kids know not to play with matches and lighter. They learn that about 6.
Sounds like a GREAT idea. Why don't you come to Detroit and show us how ? Do you have any ideas ?
I do - demand this from your mayor, governor, and Obama.

Would you rather her have a stuffed animal or a gun to protect herself in this situation ?
I would rather not raise a child in a country, where such question may arise.
