I use to know a person who worked for INTERSTATE BAKERY, a parent CO of Hostess, they also own Dolly Madison Brand, well they use too.
I know a lot of business people and know the owner of a huge sucessful vending business. He says that hostess cupcakes, and twinkies, still are a good seller. Maybe with people more self conscious these days, and watching what they eat, they are not as popular. I will too miss them, once in a while something sweet, is good, not to overdue it but once in a while.
I guess so many companies as we know them are a sign of the times. Infact i from my childhoold liked the Hostess Cupcakes so much, i learned how to make my very own, with my own touch, and they are heavenily.
If they stop making these treats, watch how fast walmart picks up the torch and make twinkie like snacks, that is, if they already haven't.
Business today is more cutthroat now than it ever was.
i shop at walmart occasionally, but i have to say that their bakery dept leaves something to be desired. their cakes may look pretty, but that is about it. (they need a new frosting recipe, or something)
the deadline has passed, so i guess we will all hear something tomorrow morning. for the sake of all those workers, i hope it isn't bad news.
all i know is that i would rather have a job than unemployment, and if they have worked there a while they may not understand how difficult this job market actually is yet.
So what, businesses go under all the time.
A major bakery went out of business decades ago in my hometown.
It wasn't necessary any more.
You're saying that not one business went under during Bush?
I have read the OP several times and still cannot find where he said no businesses went under during Bush's eight years.
Could it be that you are seeing things that just aren't there?

Holy moley, get a grip.
Talk about delusional!
Nowhere does the OP even remotely mention politics.

I don't know about that! there was a brand a long time ago, that made something like twinkies, they were disgusting. Did not even compare.
I'm the type who loves to cook and entertain, and i am a damn good baker. So i will try my dambest to make those things i know i can make better.
I go to more intimate smaller type bakeries, who really know their stuff, and for italian pastries, have to go all the way to freaking San Pedro, to a bakery down there.
Yes i'm italian and bake and cook it all, all kinds of foods, once in a while it is good, to have a good supply of bakeries on hand for those times, you just are too tired to bake.
I love entertaining, the more the better, outside on one of my decks, viewing the ocean, with drink in hand, what could be better.
Cream puff anyone! I am an expert pizza maker, don't even talk to me about store bought pizzas?

Maybe Michele will get Barry to issue an Executive Order declaring the closing a National Holiday.
Well, the union helped this one along so maybe a Day of Mourning instead.
On the other hand maybe it will be called "Success Day".
Most small businesses fail under any circumstance. Especially restaurants which have some of the largest failure rates of any other type of company.
This is nothing new and has absolutely no relevance to Obama being President. You act like every single business in the country would stay open with Romney.
Hostess is a small business ?
They lasted through the Great Depression for pete's sake.

ROFL..even when there is no mention of politics you blame it on Bush.
439,000 filing first time jobless benefits last week the highest in 18 months (april 2011). NJ and NY will probably start filing next week. No matter which way you look at it.. it's bad. Down continues to go down and is down 675 points.
