To do so would be respecting the founders traditions and heritage.President Washington thanked God in 1789. I am not religious at all, but I don't know why so many people hate 'god'? I am not offended by Christmas decorations or when people say god bless. As for the President leaving out thanking god, it strikes me as odd.
Nobody hates "god"..How do you hate something that you don't believe exists? I guess I hate leprechauns and the tooth fairy. I hate people, real, live, visible, audible (unlike the xian god) people who act as if they and the god they believe in should receive special preference from our secular government.

No, YOU agreed with the OP which indicates you NEED the President to say the word "god" as if he was your spiritual leader.
But then you flip flop and say:

Well, that would be NOT mentioning ANY religion, faith, or "god".
The President should address all AMERICANS, NOT thier faith..
Only those who want him as spiritual leader need him to mention their faith.
