How many times has the 2nd ammendment been before the Supreme Court and how many times has the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the 2nd ammendment? How many times have the left won a case in the high court regarding the 2nd ammendment?..
I think you mean 308 and its the same round as the 7.62x51 NATO also the 8mm goes in no assault weapon I have seen. Its a bolt action round for the most part. Also its not the ctg its the semi large cap mag that creates the problem. If everyone of those were in single shot, it would not be as deadly as in the semi configuration.
The .308 IS the same round as the 7.62X51 NATO round.
Never seen an assault rifle in 8mm mauser? I guess you are not familiar with weapons. Why, I have several. The G43, G41 and the MG 34 (converted to semi-auto).
So....................... it is the "capacity" that creates a problem? You do realize, don't you (I guess not), that one can take many semi-auto rifles and convert them to belt fed, essentially giving them a very large firing capacity? They make these for the AR-15 and AR-10. I have a couple of 1919A4s (semi-auto) which are belt fed. Of course, none of them require "high cap magazines", but the AR-15 conversion has more fire power than the ones I have set up with 120 round snail drums.
Further, in most states, one can legally convert a semi-auto to full auto with -
"bump fire" stocks (ar-15, AK-47)
gatling gun cranks
These are technically not "machine guns" in the eyes of the ATF and have DEVASTATING fire capacity. Further, the Saiga 12 shotgun can come with a 24 round drum and a "bump fire" stock to make it a perfectly legal, fully automatic 12g shotgun.
You see- these things are a little more tricky than most liberal think.
The time has come for a radical re-thinking of guns in this country. Anything less than a wholesale disintegration of the gun culture and industry will result in the failure to protect innocent people from massacres like Friday's.

How does fewer legal firearms in the hands of law abiding citizens change anything?
Ban the ammo. Collect all the guns you want, make ammo for assault rifles and pistols illegal for sale and private ownership under 10 year prison penalty. Put some teeth into the legislation.
You can have a shotgun for home defense (the best weapon for home defense), rifles for hunting, but ban private ownership of pistol and assault weapon ammunition. Licensed, inspected gun ranges can keep your stockpiled ammo and you can store shoot there. All bullets sold in this country should have a serial number to trace it through ownership and sale. Too expensive? Too bad.
Close the absurd loopholes that define an assault weapon, too.
"Well regulated militia"
If we're going to make the leap that the 2nd Amendment does not refer to a standing army and instead private citizens, "well regulated" means this country can decide which weapons are acceptable and which are not for private citizens.
Wouldn't work. I cast my own bullets and reload my own ammo. I can crank out quite a few rounds in a few hours.

When you never grow up & certain folks don't want to play with you, you just have to find a way to punish those uninterested & uninvolved. All the while taking the 'high road' when doing it.
All those gun laws will be deemed racist in a few years when blacks and Mexicans are locked up at a disproportional rate.
But I'm all for life in prison for gun-related crimes if you leave responsible gun owners out of your witch hunt.
