The Taliban are the conservatives of Afghanistan, essentially 3rd world equivalent of the Republicans/TeaPartiers.

Ronald Reagan was a big fan of the Taliban:

They have been a massive headache ever since.

I have no love for the Taliban but i'm not sure why he would admit to it even if it were obvious.. He should have just said he can't comment on his military activities while in Afghanistan they are classified. He is a high profile figure and I think this just puts an unnecessary spotlight on himself and the royal family - well then again there was the whole Las Vegas thing. Maybe he just wants attention.

Remember the time and exactly who the Taliban were fighting.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Great nations have no permanent friends, only permanent interests.

He was also a friend of Saddam and lets not forget he gave arms to Iran and yet he is still considered a God by republicans.

Arm them and just trash them after his work was done instead of fostering a healthy relationship so that they wouldn't go rogue.

That doesn't excuse a lack of prudence in making deals.

How we got the idea that a red flag over Kabul was somehow threatening to our interests is curious.
