A theme in every Obama speech is sending more young people to college. While in and of itself, that sounds like a good idea, we have millions of young people coming out of college now that aren't able to find a job other than Wal-Mart or waiting tables at Chili's. The value of the four-year college degree has gone from nearly guaranteeing prosperity 15 years ago to what the high school diploma once was. It college becomes an entitlement, it will even further devalue it. So why is it so necessary that more people go to college?

According to Obama's earlier listed plans "giving" those people college educations would make them very beholden to the giver, who surely would seem to be Obama although it would actually be the American taxpayer. These people would be willing to work for The Leader in any field of endeavor he wanted them to do, since he gave them the education.
Actually the college education today isn't worth much since so many fields they can be got in aren't worth worrying about. You are right about where recent graduates have to work since there are too many grads for the jobs available in their fields. Also, too many of them have earned their degrees in fields that just don't have any jobs.
What Obama is shooting at is a civilian army willing to do his bidding and very few of them will be doing what their degrees call for. They will continue to be useful idiots just as they are while still in college.
Better to have a degree than not. That hasn't changed, nor will it.
Not everybody is college material. Some people would be far better off learning a trade and going directly into the workforce. We already have far more people graduating with degrees than jobs that require them. Jobs require 4-year degrees today that only required a high school diploma 10 years ago.
And I know I am the most hated poster on this forum. I know my opinion really isn't worth a damn, but I don't see what is so politically incorrect about this specific question to warrant the personal attacks.
It may not pay much but the study of human history is fascinating to those that major in it. And they don't major in it for the money. We need people in these fields just as much as we need them in math and science. So why do you roll your eyes at this profession?
some folks dont qualify for welfare so student loans take its place to live without working. A neighbor has racked up 100,000 in just 3 years,it pays mortgage, food beer cigs etc. all for a going to class what seems like part time. has no intention of paying it back. A blemish on those truly seeking a good education and a rewarding career.
Certainly with cuts coming in support alot of things are going to be reevaluated .
With Obama living in the White House? I don't think so because he wants all those useful idiots ready to serve him.
