That should be: Democrats are not the problem for Whites in this regard.
When looking at high violent crime rates, they're not equally spread statewide. For example, TN has a R governor but Nashville and Memphis, two cities in TN with very high violent crime rates, Have D mayors. Just like Chicago, which has had a D mayor for a very long time while Illinois governors have been D or R.
Omaha has a Republican mayor, and has elected Republicans before. Blacks have long had high poverty rates and high murder rates in Omaha. Perhaps it has nothing to do with Democrat or Republican.
Are you trying to suggest about Blacks regarding Democrats vs Whites?
Actually, there is more diversity in thought amongst Blacks than many people would think. However, one reason it doesn't always translate at the voting polls, I think it's due to the idea of "vote for you trust".
The comparison includes the working populations of both races, adjusted for the higher unemployment rate of Blacks. Blacks are still highly over-represented on the welfare rolls even when taking employment into account.
I was talking only about Blacks who are working. Not the whole Black population. The estimates you have are for the Black population at large. I'm talking specifically and only about Blacks who are employed, not employed Blacks and unemployed Blacks.
I was not talking about the murder rate as a whole. I was talking about the BLACK MURDER RATE. Omaha has a Republican mayor, has had Republican mayors, and Blacks are doing very bad in Omaha. I was talking about Black murder rates and Black poverty rates. Not murder rates for the whole city.
For me it isn't a question. I feel like it goes back to the 60s.
I suggest you review our American history on who and what Johnson was, along with what his beliefs were with regards to his civil rights legislation before you get too sentimental about what Democrats did for minorities in the 60s. You may be surprised or maybe not.
Then subtract out the unemployment rate from both the percentage of the population and the percentage of those on welfare.
13.1% x .86 (Black unemployment rate is 14%) = 11.26% of population not categorized as unemployed
39.8% x .86 = 34.22% of those receiving welfare
The percent on welfare even after subtracting out the unemployed is still over 3 times higher than it should be given the percentage of the population.
