Yeah, you put great emphasis on responsibility, when we both know that a great deal of young people never give "responsibility" a first thought, let alone a second thought.

What ever happened to personal responsibility?
Bolded the pill is what conservatives are against, along with abortions. The reason I posted the video is to show people of the forum how stupid republicans can really be.

Secondly, one has to compare apples to apples. Comparing the household incomes of married black couples to married white couples without factoring in that married black couples are much more likely to have both people working than white married couples is misleading as well.

I think white married couples with children under age of 18 are about twice as likely to have a stay at home mom than black married couples.
Great points.

Just curious where you stand...

70% of the youth in Detroit live in single parent homes, do you think that this will help, hurt, or have no significant impact on the health of the city - economics, crime, culture, etc...

It can be tough being a parent as a couple, let alone by yourself and presumably working and then coming home having kids to raise, chores to do, etc...

Perhaps, we as a society need to reemphasize responsibility.

You are being ridiculous in your over generalizing. 89% of all Americans say that birth control is okay and only 8% say that it is morally wrong. A solid majority of Conservatives say that birth control is okay.

So the guy said that girls use to practice abstinence in a very weird way - Democrats can be just as stupid and weird - and stupid as frequently as Republicans.

I think it would be wise to realize that both parties have their faults and answers.

I don't see single parenting separate from other issues as a problem. I think people have to separate out, ok this is a choice I wouldn't make for myself, from the idea that the different choice is inherently worse than other choices.

I think the issues for single parents are poverty, and lack of support and help from the other parent's family.

What do the youth of Detroit have to do with anything? The city of Detroit has lost manufacturing jobs galore. This has been what has devastated the economy of the city of Detroit and increased the poverty of Detroit residents which then leads to an increase in certain social issues.

Low self-esteem...poor role models....hopelessness...desperation to get/keep a man...thinking that creature is going to love them...not thinking through the financial aspect....sometimes it's even pressure from the impregnator.

Yes, I've started relationships with guys who started talking about making babies but nothing about marriage. My response was: You're trifling and I'm exiting stage left but some women (remember low self-esteem...desperate to get/keep a man) will go for the fairytale.

Some conservatives oppose bc, but so what. Any woman and her sexmate can get and use bc.

Detroit lost manufacturing jobs, but it also lost over half of its population.

The youth are the near future of Detroit.

So you don't see 70% of kids coming from single parent homes as something that will hurt Detroit's prospects?
