I just look at this whole thing from the POV of a law-abiding person who hates it when the actions of others disrupt my life. It probably stems from the fact I grew up in the ghetto, earned 2 criminal justice degrees, and now work in the field.

I'm looking this from the perspective of a law-abiding person who hates it when the actions of others disrupt my life as well. It stems from the fact that I grew up black in the suburbs and have been profiled all of my life. Now I have to worry about idiot armed vigilantes who can't tell me apart from a gang member. And no, I don't sag my pants, I have a Masters degree, and I don't have an arrest record.

Please, I was just pointing out what you said was a fabrication of your imagination. It's conclusions like that lead people with poor impulse control into situations out of their control in which they were completely in the wrong to begin with.
Zimmerman always reminded me of a three year old who is told by his father "don't go on the road" - and the infant just keeps on going and gets hit by a car...but instead of him dying - his immaturity and inability to take directions led to the death of another. That is what will always stick with people...these three words.."Do not follow"...he could not even do that. I remember my youngest son at the age of 2 sitting with my mother by an old wood stove...and she said to him..."Do not touch the stove- you will get burned" and he replied "But I want too" - That is Zimmerman in a nut shell.
Remember all the folks screaming about Richard Jewell after the Olympic bombings "playing hero" as they castigated him? I guess they didn't learn their lesson. Amazing how the "mob" has no sense whatsoever....
I don't know about Florida law, but in Texas you can be tried as an adult at 17.
You can be tried as an adult. That still doesn't mean you are one. Can you join the army? Buy cigarettes? No. Besides Martin committed no crime so this isn't applicable.
Zimmerman had an arrest record and subsequently shot an unarmed teenager. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you can take off those blinders.
