You know, I really wouldn't care about this if it wasn't for the fact that a HUGE double standard is involved here. First off, a business has the right to refuse service to anyone it chooses.
Second, How many FEMALE ONLY clubs do we see every single day? Female only homeless shelters, female only gyms, female only female only... This is like me walking into a female gym and wondering why the fk they are kicking me out. Just because you have short hair, does not mean you are a man.
Much to do about nothing. I've gone in when traveling and asked if they cut men's hair. No;thanks and left.

The barber was being an ass, IMO.
1. She has a man's haircut.....it wouldn't take any longer for him to give her a cut than it would to cut a man's hair. She obviously wanted a man style hair cut.
2. When men wore their hair longer......many times I saw men come into the Beauty Salon I went to for a style and cut......and sometimes a perm, back in the day, LOL.....no one batted an eye.

I agree that he was being an ass, but there are some blatant double standards that are apparently acceptable when the shoe is on one foot, but unacceptable when on the other.
Lyla Miklos went into the Westdale Barber Shop Wednesday afternoon. She had just finished work at Westdale Secondary School.
Miklos, who identifies as a *****, feminist and a labour activist, was shocked when he told her the shop is for men only.
“Emotionally, I was very angry and slightly hurt,” she said, noting she’s had short hair her entire adult life and has been to other barbershops in the area.
she’d like an apology and for the barber to undergo anti-oppression training. She also suggested he could offer free haircuts to women in need or make a donation to a sexual assault centre.
This freak show teaches children? Most likely this individual went into this barber shop to rabble rouse and pick a fight. Are the parents of the children it teaches aware of this individual's background?

“I didn’t want to cut her hair,” said Phil Angemi, who’s owned the Westdale Barber Shop for the past 12 years. “That’s my reason.”
Best answer. Now the miscreant can huff and puff all it wants, but it can't squeal malice.
My hubby's barber is a woman and she won't touch a woman's hair. Should I sue her?
Why do people even want service people to do a job for them when they don't want to? They won't do a good job.
From the article---
“There’s a barber out there who really needs some sensitivity,” she said, adding she’d like an apology and for the barber to undergo anti-oppression training. She also suggested he could offer free haircuts to women in need or make a donation to a sexual assault centre."
No she needs some "wise up" training for dummies and soon.

Make a donation to a sexual assault center... How in Christs name is that even related to this? Because he wont cut a womans hair, he is a woman beater?
It's been my experience most shops will cut male or female hair they'll just make sure that you know you might not like what you get. I go to male barber shops all the time and so did my mom after she got too sick to care for long hair. They were always very nice, but i've heard a few shops don't in the area so i stay away from them it is their right and she said by her own admission she goes to other shops so why not go to one of those shops without creating a scene?
They really need a new word for feminism because they are some of the least feminine things I've ever seen.
