I just modfied the poll slightly, to specify that the two Macd's were identical, with equal quality of food and service.
You're assuming the $15/hr employees provide the same level of service as the $8/hr employee. Why? Wouldn't it be a market economy cornerstone principle that the better-paying franchise would attract the better grade of employee?
The problem with $15.00 an hour is how are other service jobs such as fast food going to compete if they continue with minimum wage? In this economy their min wage jobs don't have a chance to up employee salaries to $15.00 an hour, $0.50 cents to a $2.00 more plus with local stores will sill drive people to Wal Mart. At that an hour, McDonald's, which provides easier accessibility for work jobs when there's high competition already for employment, will require new employees to have college degrees when the job used to be an entry level. Traditionally the service section jobs as such were a job for H.S. students and others without diplomas and or college education. In an economy where service sector jobs are the majority of what is left for the majority of the people, how is that fair? Might as well just tell them to be on welfare, forget trying for a job.
In a perfect "utopia", where rents in NYC cost the same as rents in podunk town, nowhere, and where jobs weren't pushed overseas by greed, this would be fesable but we're pushing 50 million on foodtsamps.
Wouldn't a living wage depending on area work better?

(a) The one with "normal" McDonalds prices and wages
(b) The one where each food item and drink cost $.50 to $1.00 more than "normal", and paid $15.00/hr?
You didn't think the wages that today's "strikers" are demanding, were going to come for free, did you?
WHY is there any reason to believe EACH item would need to be " $.50 to $1.00 more than 'normal' " to support that wage?
Let's see your math!
