I don't remember when I was taught that it was wrong to steal, but it sure wasn't from my first employer.
One can look at this in that very black and white way. However, all too often owners and managers do not take responsibility for proper training. They would instead prefer to blame it on bad employees. Responsibility and communication clarity are important on both sides. So now it is bad parenting? It was a cup of coffee to a homeless person by a 19 year old. Making poor decisions in haste is very common among young people. Understanding consequences comes with experience and proper brain development. The frontal lobe isn't even finished developing until the mid 20's.

According to the article this employer sounds less than stellar and maybe has no problem lying himself. According to the article it appears this is the case, but again hard to know what really happened here. I am sure she is probably better off.
