Can anyone on this forum truly state that that if a transcript of our lives where released to the public, there wouldn't be any portions that were as bad or even worse that what was said here. No one can make that statement without lying.
Does it somehow make what he said less racist? That is like saying the husband cheated on the wife, but she was never suppose to find out, so really it isn't his fault he cheated.

Good question. Please pose it to the Southern California NAACP.

This is a TMZ story...it was silly of the reporter to ask the question and would have reflected better on him if he rose above it and said no comment, jmho.

I definitely agree with you.

But I do wonder however if Sterling is really suitable to be the owner of a basketball team. This is a market driven economy, like it or not, admit it or not. If people don't want to watch clipper game anymore, this team will eventually be ruined. So yes, I do believe Sterling needs to go.

I agree that this conversation should have remained private and I have made some statement that I would not want publicly repeated.

BUT, the fact remains that if you make inflammatory statements and they somehow get exposed, you have to own it and accept responsibility. While we have a right to free speech, we are not free of repercussions for those statements.

Rising "above" it? What is that supposed to mean?

There are reports that Magic Johnson is positioning himself to buy the Clippers.

Maybe that had something to do with this guy's rant, although he is apparently prone to that anyway.

Exactly.

The guy is a jerk but his little tramp on the side was retaliating from her being sued by the Sterlings. Folks like lemmings all jump on the fray. More to it than a racist tirade by an 80 year old.

No need to comment on a gossip rag story in a news conference. What is so complicated about that?
