"No American whose great-grandfather was born here is watching soccer. One can only hope that, in addition to learning English, these new Americans will drop their soccer fetish with time."
News to my family. All eight of my g-grandparents were born in the U.S., and 15 of 16 2g-grandparents were born here. On my husband's side of the family, all of both generations were born in the U.S.
I love how she writes that she's held off writing about soccer for a decade. Wish she'd had made it longer.
No, that would be cricket... and a test match can last 5 days.
What is it with European sports? The only good ones are tennis and golf, though neither are terribly exciting to watch. When I was in London lawn bowling was always on TV. Is that really a thing? Seems like a sport you'd play with your kids on a nice summer morning, not something to be televised. We don't have croquet on TV.

Personally, I think sitting and watching 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' is way weirder than watching lawn bowling.
Wow, how original, another American "soccer sucks" rant.
It wasn't remotely close to funny or clever. I wish Coulter would crawl back into her hole and keep her pie-hole shut. She hurts the "conservative cause" more often than she helps it.

Intelligent, thinking people realize that the extreme faction does not represent the majority of conservatives. Of course the left goes with it anyway because they want to demonize the entire right to stay in power. Far too many sheeple fall for that nonsense.
There is the possibility of a US vs Mexico match in the semi-finals. That would be interesting and bring out the patriotism .. and hate.
Well, I'll tell you this much being a U.S. citizen of German ancestry I wouldn't be rooting for the Germans to win and fly their flag. But then again, that's just me.

Are you trying to suggest right wingers don't do the same? Ann Coulter is an idiot and no one should listen or follow her. Thankfully she only represents a small vocal fraction of the Republican party.

Kinda like the right holding up buffoons like Sharpton and claiming he represents the majority of liberals because they want demonize the entire left in lame attempts to gain power, eh? Lotsa sheeple on both sides of the aisle.
