But I find the thought process behind it interesting.
I think what the poster
meant was not sympathy but empathy for the troops. . . I'm sure there is not one single serviceman that would want sympathy from said poster, but instead
empathy; the ability to experience in a situation as another did. . . the ability to put oneself in another person's circumstances and feelings. It is a higher order reference and some may be incapable of it at their level of development.
