Once again, I bring up our old friend Lassa Fever. About as infectious as Ebola, albeit far less deadly (no walk in the park, either - 1% is still pretty bad) and often allowing people to be infectious without symptoms, with a pool of 300 - 500,000 infected at any given time. It has arrived in the US multiple times, and it has never been observed to spread beyond the index patient. The US is just not a welcoming environment for hemorrhagic fevers.
Admittedl, unlike middle-aged mom, I would have an issue visiting Dallas tomorrow - but that's because I find it to be a very, very dull place.
From the press conference: He took a flight out of Monrovia Liberia on the 19th. He arrived in the U.S. on the 20th. (He took multiple flights). He was said to be asymptomatic on the flights. He was visiting relatives in Dallas and stayed with them (no hotel). He became ill on the 24th. He was treated on the 26th and sent home. He was admitted to Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas on the 28th and has been in ICU/isolation. They are concerned about those that came into contact with him between the 24th and the 28th. They are saying one or more of his family members will become sick. They think they have a handle on it.
Why do you think it will be an "isolated incidence" when citizens from these countries can hop on an airplane and be in the USA the next day? Do you think that just possibly - there is better care for those infected (or think they may be infected) in the USA? This person in a Dallas hospital is in the USA to "visit with family". He is not a citizen, he is a visitor. He went to the Dallas hospital TWICE for treatment - they sent him home the first time and the second time, they got around to asking - "Have you traveled outside of the USA recently?".
I agree that we need to send help over there to try and control this ..... I'm not really on board for open skye and allow the possibly infected "visitors" to travel at will to the USA.

Why individuals from that area are allowed to travel internationally is beyond me.
Its because leftist hate Western Civilization and want to destroy it.
