Allowing a company a tax break is NOT a subsidy. no matter how many links you post which calls it one, it just shows that your sources are dumb and dont know what they are talking about..
Again, its the SAME tax break as every business in the country..
They are going beyond the tax breaks, they including things like low cost loans that are used to finance small business exports. They aren't particular to the oil industry and certainly not available to companies like Exxon.
The liberal Democrats here propose and raise one after another tax that disproportionately impacts the working poor. You can put your head in the sand if you wish, but you can't escape the reality that remains aboveground.
Oh please.. you've swallowed the democratic talking point of lies.
Those "subsides" are tax write offs that EVERY SINGLE BUSINESS has.. its not a dam subsidy..
So if someone takes the ACA income tax break as a tax write-off(ie where it reduces their taxable income/liability) at filing time for their HCA monthly premium rather than taking it monthly to subsidized the monthly premium you are fine with that?

Reason: change a word.
Clearly that would be of interest to the military with their long term commitment. Like it or not if we are going to have troops there they need all the tools we can give them. The 4 billion cited spent by the US and other governments would buy on average about 160 miles of new Interstate.
The Federal Gas Tax is 18.4c per gallon and has not been raised since 1993, there are 3 choices, let the highway system continue to deteriorate, add to the national deficit by borrowing or raise taxes. Sounds like fuel efficiency drove the tax down, get rid of those hybrids.
An increase of 12 cents over a few years is not that much, glad to see some honest senators the others are telling you that you can have everything with no pain. I am waiting for the senators that are against this increase to come up with a solution, just chanting no tax is not a solution.

No hybrid here, just an 8 year old ford focus that we get 30+mpg with.
Michigan is dealing with the same problem. Even Pub Gov Synder(business man) got backhanded by his own party this year, when he asked for additional billion plus to fix the roads, with a tax hike at the center. They basically told him to go "f" himself.
Not saying that raising taxes is always the answer but the no tax increase people are leaving their progeny a large repair bill due in the future.

Yup.
I generally vote Republican on the national level and oppose tax hikes, but you have to recognize that there are some things that the government 100% should be doing, maintaining the highway system being one of them, and it's better to fund these things with taxes than by piling on ever more debt. Taxing gasoline also has the nice bonus of incenting better behavior from people for our national security and environment, as opposed to most of the tax revenue which punishes above-the-table labor.

There is no reason for them to be there. No, I am not willing to pay higher taxes so they can stay there and build roads.

You raise taxes if and when onerous inflation raises its ugly head. Today eliminating the Federal gas tax would still be a useful stimulus. Especially as middle class wages lag.
