Or, if they aren't willing to do the work, we could replace them with people willing to do the work.

By all means... In that however, you need to keep the standards for employment at the same level they previously were. In fact perhaps you should increase them to get a better level of employee. One that can do his job without the support of the administration and run the risk of incarceration with every critical decision made. Excellent planning there Sherlock.

lmao!

Use hyperbole much?

Yeah, the cops are really just under siege in NYC. The mayor's lukewarm platitudes about the nature of policing (while careful to empathize with both the angry protesters and the police) have just been really devastating. How tough these cops must be to absolutely fall apart when they don't get 100% of everything they want and they don't to live in a world where the public and the elected officials actually charged by the owners of the government to run it refuse to grant them complete and total immunity from any criticism whatsoever and any oversight at all. Must be hard to be so emotionally and mentally frail and yet be given such staggering responsibility and authority.

Right, this is the perfect time to recruit thousands of new cops to serve as sitting ducks for shooters, hassle people for selling loosies, figuring out who should get a traffic ticket.

Don't worry though. You'll probably see many cops who've put off retiring decide to take their pensions and get out.

lol

I don't actually think that's necessary. The cops in NYC are throwing a temper tantrum, that's all.

Should we put the two officers shot down in their patrol car in NYC on a recruitment poster?

Seriously?

You just doubled-down.

Yeah policing is dangerous sometimes, they are after all, the people we employ with criminals, some of whom are dangerous. So is fighting fires, but firefighters don't gripe about it.

A loon killing two cops has nothing to do with recent protests over police behavior or anything at all NYC's mayor did or said, because he was a freakin' loon.

The mayor has not made anti-police statements. The protesters aren't demanding the police be disbanded. They just want the cops to stop killing unarmed black people (outrageous, clearly). If the mayor had said anything fiery or anti-cop, you guys would have trotted it out by now. But like I already said, his statements have been lukewarm platitudes. Generalizations at best. He has condemned no one. He has tried to placate both sides by showing empathy to both sides.

So in the end, what's your point here? Are to trying to yoke the recent murders of two cops to the Mayor and the protests? Then prove it. And you can start by proving this guy wasn't a complete nut (bad news though, the fact that he killed himself after killing the two cops is pretty much the tip off that he was a nut). He wasn't making some grand political statement. He wasn't some kind of activist. According to right's favorite NY newspaper, the Post, he had a history of mental illness, tried to kill himself last year and shot an ex-girlfriend in the stomach. So what does this guy have to do with anything? What does he have to do with either the protests or the Mayor?

Suspected? They are reacting to events and reality. In fact COPs face the judge or more accurate the 12 citizens when a normal citizen would not. Its one of highest turn over jobs in country for many reason. few cops compared to number ever reach retirement. They are not like you and me sitting at home waiting for the bad in society to come to use ;they go to them everyday. We give them responsibility to act and also power to when a citizen might retreat. I want them to have the upper hand in all situation because of it.

If they are refusing to do their jobs, simply because the mayor thought the killing of Eric holder was unjust, than DeBlasio should go all Ronald Regan VS the Air traffic controllers on them
