The ridiculous thing is the more that choose to not pay the fine, the higher the amount will be added to the debt, thus making the claim that it would reduce the deficit completely laughable.
Since when is it against the law to pay out of pocket for your health care? Who or what is stopping Cruz from paying for his and his wife's healthcare without the aid of the current health care plan that he's trying to abolish?
Since, if you do not obtain an Obamacare APPROVED plan, you are subject to TAX Penalties...the IRS can penalize you for failure to pay taxes, up to and including putting you in jail. Federal Employees' health plans are from Obamacare. Those are the only plans available in DC.
He, like anybody else, could go out on the market and buy HC coverage. No one has to choose from the HC Exchange.
Really - You MUST purchase Obamacare APPROVED policies (you can't keep your plan, even if you like it). Care to identify what Obama approved plans are available in DC?
The majority of Americans saw through the rabid right's attempt to spin and put the blame for the shutdown squarely on the GOP. And one of the problems in Congress right now is that two brain cells are about all most Tea Partiers possess.

He is not only following the Federally MANDATED OBAMACARE requirement, he is going against the "do as I say" crowd and forfeiting the subsidy that democrats voted for themselves even though they earn over $170K a year. Cruz will pay what other Americans who were forced into Obamacare pay, who earn wages in the same range he does.

OF course he can...and he will be paying his FEDERALLY MANDATED OBAMACARE insurance WITHOUT A SUBSIDY, like every other American who makes the same salary and is not eligible for a subsidy. The Democrats EXEMPTED FEDERAL EMPLOYEES from the part of Obamacare that denies subsidies to high-wage earners, yet Cruz is NOT going to act like he is above the law and will pay what other Americans pay.

Don't waste too much effort on Mr. Cruz, both parties do not really like him and think he is crazy. I doubt the Dems will expend too much money and effort tearing him down, his viability in the running is VERY LOW.
I like him....but do not really care about the D/R flimflam game, a sad joke!

Sure they do. I will agree that ALL Progressives don't care for Cruz...because he believes in our foundational document and that we are a nation of laws, not men. THAT concept is "crazy" to progressives..."Crazy" and scary!
