Life expectancy is not the problem at all, Africans' lives are on average a generation shorter than ours, i.e. 20 to 30 years shorter. Imagine you are expected to die at 55...

The problems are lack of family planning, conservative views, Islam, superstition, wrong/colonial borders (resulting in ethnic and religious conflicts), exploitation by foreign companies paying little if any taxes, EU agricultural policies, lack of reliable electricity (thus no air conditioning, with all the consequences) etc.

An interesting case study is Singapore. It used to be a terrible place, with a brutal climate draining people's energy. Now they have reliable electricity and that enabled all the other progress because the climate does not turn work into torture anymore.

You've listed good reasons not to let these people into Europe. After all, they're superstitious and lack the ability to live in peace with others that aren't like them. And they can't plan their families. All evidence points to them being a drain on Europe, not a benefit.

If you want to see what immigrants, particularly criminal immigrants, will bring to a country (or continent), the solution is simple. Look at the places they are leaving. See what they have made of their homelands. Is there a peaceful, prosperous, productive society? One with clean, growing cities, democracies, respect for the rights of all? If so, that is probably the same type of society and ethic they will bring with them wherever they go.

Likewise, if they have created a culture and society steeped in silly superstitions, violence, dependency, subjugation of others (particularly women), expect the same culture to be brought with them. If you see trash in the streets, burned out cars left on the highway and persecution of others in their homelands, why would you expect otherwise they come to a new country? It ain't that hard to understand people.

If you take someone that's live their life by trashing a mobile home with 6 junked cars around it and a yard that hasn't seen a lawnmower in 2 years, what do you think happens when you put them in a McMansion in a nice part of town?

improves in all sectors.
India remains a question mark. The smart fraction seems to be there but it's a stratified society and the general population scores low on IQ tests.

My feeling is that India will be the next "Great Power" after the US, although it'll take about 50 to 100 years for their people to get their act together. China; its time has passed IMHO

Given the current rate of technological change, it's worth asking whether extremely large populations are a precondition for 'Great Power' status.

Anything is possible, but for India to pass the US (or China) as a global power would be the most amazing development in the history of the world.

I see things very differently, China's time is far from over, to the contrary, I think it is just getting started as it takes the step from the quantity to the quality level.
India is not going to get anywhere near China anytime soon. Too many problems...

I agree. China is at the point of leaving the Industrial Age.
