India is not going to get anywhere near China anytime soon. Too many problems...

China's working age pop is dropping year after year. There are more Chinese over 35 years old, including very old people than there are under that age. Wages are jumping like crazy there and, word is it's now cheaper to build more and more things in the US.

IMHO China's future will be like Japan's.

Japan is still among the leading countries, and China will do the same thing to counter their demographic challenges, they will push automation to new levels. The need for cheap labor will decrease anyway, like it did in Western countries. Again, China is moving away from the factory model fast, they might even outsource manufacturing to Africa or wherever in the future.

IMHO China is going through economical development stages like no country has ever done before. If China remains to grow at the rate it does now it will be the biggest and strongest economy at the middle of the century human mankind has ever seen.

Ironically I think India is a stronger candidate than China for development. India has enough democratic tradition that it could live with economic liberty. China does not and never has.

What do Paris shooting has to do with refugees?
The three culprits of Paris shootings were all born in France during the early 1980's.

China has ten times as many people as Japan. If it ever gets close to Japan's level of productivity and GDP per capita it will be far and away the leading power in the world.

A lot of countries have a long tradition of democracy and economic liberty though - Mexico, the Philippines...

That just isn't enough to build a world class economy. More than anything else you need smart people, and China has them in abundance.

I doubt the world could produce enough raw materials.

China is an amazing story, but strikes me as being brittle. You do have to hand it to them, though.

Taking in large numbers of people whose children will be most unlikely to fit in is a terrible idea.
