The First Amendment protects the religion and the Second Amendment protects the (reasonably regulated) firearms ownership. This isn't a controversy, except for a few neo-fascists in the Trump movement.
I voted not to ban Muslim-Americans from owning guns.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a bigot during WWII. He denied German and Italian Americans the right to own firearms, radios, cameras and other equipment during WWII. Don't forget the internment of Japanese-Americans on the West Coast as well as some German and Italian-Americans. He made his policies based solely on ethnicity and not specific evidence against individuals.
Policies regarding US Citizens should be based on the individual person, not the group.
We should not seek to replicate the blatantly racist policies of FDR as there are many Muslim-Americans who are peaceful and loyal.
However, I would not necessarily be opposed to stripping the right to own arms of any American that joins fringe violent hate groups like the KKK, ISIS, etc....provided the details were right. Anyone who joins a violent hate group I see similar as to someone who has a mental illness.
P.S. I may be a fool that accidentally voted the wrong way -- I thought No was No as in not banning Muslim-Americans. Oops...flip my vote.
The poll results would appear to contradict your assertion.
And you definitely not knowing what bigotry means.
