If you are a USA citizen, it is your right to own a gun. The Constitution says this explicitly.

I disagree.

People with severe mental illnesses and those convicted of violent crimes should not be allowed to own guns.

However, these policies should be based on individuals not done in a racist manner prohibiting groups like FDR did.

The issue here is racial attitudes. The idea that a citizen should be denied the right to bear arms based on one's race, ethnicity, or faith, well, that is just a ridiculous thing. I find it ironic that FDR said "we have nothing to fear but fear itself", and his decision was basically tapping into the fear of Americans.

I'm well aware of the definition. Is there some point you're trying to make?

Many seriously mentally ill people are banned from owning or even being around guns.

Felons are not allowed to own guns.

So like I said - the same laws which apply to American citizens should apply to ALL American citizens. We have laws governing whether or not the seriously ill or violent criminals can own guns.

Even those released from Jail or Prison, got their gun back 150 years ago.....

Today, naw, I don't think so. You don't need to protect yourself from us.
