Stories of priests or other clergymen molesting children are much more common, and always involve boys. Never one time have I heard a dissimilar story about them. Why has no priest ever molested a nun or some more "normal" crime?

Alegations against teachers are more diverse, and less common.

Clergymen have a specific pattern that they all seem to follow. What's going on?
The main molesters are gay priests after teen boys. Not sure if the movie told that but it's the facts. Those who know report the gay priests were sexual with each other in seminary. Read the book. "A few Good Men" Many straight men left seminaries when they saw what was happening.

This scandal is unforgiveable.
You are blaming the Church for the sinners in it. Remember a Church is a hospital for sinners. In this case the sinners were the ones in power but they are still the sinners not the hospital/Church.

How about if you summarize it for me. I am not up to listening to Catholic propaganda for 40 minutes.

Seems this "hospital" doesn't cure the sinners, only enables them. Those "sinners" belong in jail!

Some facts for you. Gerald Risdale, molested 57 boys.

He realised he was attracted to young boys not women while he was at Werribee seminary. Despite the realisation, he didn’t want to lose the “status†of being a priest.
Ridsdale has been convicted for abusing more than 50 children over 30 years, but the real figure may be in the hundreds.

Ridsdale said the bishop warned him that if it happened he would be sent “off to the missionsâ€.
Instead he was sent to Mildura.

Gerald Ridsdale: Australia

And, as of yesterday, Cardinal George Pell said:

Cardinal Pell faced the commission from a Rome hotel, drawing gasps from survivors as he declared the crimes of notorious paedophile priest Gerald Ridsdale were a "sad story" but "not of much interest" to him at the time.

George Pell: Father of abuse victims says he has given up hope Cardinal will help fix things - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

George Pell, referred to as the third most powerful man in the Holy See, has the full backing of the pope, apparently... Cardinal George Pell: I have 'full backing' of Pope Francis

The church, that ignored the criminals that were within in it. They are criminals. They belonged in jail. Do not minimise their crime, by referring to them as sinners.

Most child molesters go to jail. This is the sort of thing that happens to priest child molesters;

Gil Gustafson of Minneapolis who was declared disabled because of his pedophilia by the Minneapolis and St. Paul Archdiocese, according to detailed letters released by attorney Jeffrey Anderson, in order to continue to get paid by the diocese and continue working in the diocese leadership program.

The details of the abuse may change, running the gamut from fondling and masturbation to full penetration and child pornography, but the pattern is largely the same: very few abusers ever face criminal courts, and only a scant few face Vatican justice.

In Chinese we say, "a hand does not give a clap." Therefore, guess who gave the priests another hand? In China, we had the violences toward the weaker groups, not necessarily to the children. But the closest guardians of the minors were sometimes unawared of the harms.

My personal opinion....

First off, the question should be, "why do people still attend Catholic Church services when they know full well this happened, is beyond my comprehension".

If you know anything, you should know by looking back into history how rich and powerful the church always was.

It is also beyond my comprehension that a man, a human being can say, "your sin's are forgiven"?

and we're also told that no one should bow down to any other man or idle....

and yet, people treat the Pope as if he is a God...makes me ill, when so many children were sexually abused by these so called Priests.

In the movie, it explains what happened to these children...if they are still alive, and yet, no one comes forward to say, enough! People still flock into the church, which is sick...and they should be ashamed of themselves to put so much power in another human beings hands.

Why is it people need leaders so badly, they ignore the atrocities bought down on children, in their own neighborhoods, by these so called men of God? Sheesh....

Human beings never seem to learn....and so, 2,000 years later people are still putting so much power in the very thing that preys on their children....pathetic.
