I've read a lot about the case so I'm aware that there was not a spinal tap and I'm aware that antibiotics were issued making an accurate bacterial culture difficult if not impossible. I also know that there was no diagnosis of HIB in the autopsy report as some here have asserted. The people who are insisting that the boy's illness could have been prevented via a vaccine are reaching because for one we don't even know for sure if he had viral or bacterial and we definitely don't know what specific strain he had if it was indeed bacterial.

I'm not "desperate" to make this issue about vaccines, you apparently haven't read my other posts on other threads.
Some others are desperate to make this about vaccines.

The time to vaccinate was long past. Not age wise, but because the kid was sick. One source I looked at said that "failure to provide the necessaries of life" is the US equivalent of manslaughter. That's what the parents were being tried for. They waited until the child was clinically dead to seek medical attention.
Agreed, that is what the case is about.

I thought the parents' expert witness had been fired? Anyway, the parents hired her to dispute the prosecution. That's apparently the Canadian way, just like it's the American way. Our legal system is based on that of English common law.
The expert witness for the defense was the Former Chief Medical Examiner. She was not fired but rather her contract was not renewed after she blew the whistle on political and bureaucratic interference in death investigations in her office. She had a stellar performance record.

The Hib report is indeed in the autopsy result, confirmed at multiple websites.

The clinical course is compatible with a bacterial disease. Viral meningitis is much less likely to be fatal.

I posted that link upthread. MissTerri didn't like it. I also posted this one Autopsy confirmed 18-month-old Alberta boy died of meningitis, medical examiner testifies | Globalnews.ca, from a Canadian news source, which says "Earlier Thursday, Adeagbo testified he performed the autopsy on March 19, 2012 and determined the cause of death to be bacterial meningitis and empyema, an infection of the lungs." I just checked and I posted this very quote.

Here's something from the Canadian Broadcasting Company: Alberta toddler's final days before meningitis death detailed in physician's report at parents' trial - Calgary - CBC News
"The working diagnosis was bacterial meningitis, although that was not confirmed by a lumbar-puncture test, as Ezekiel was "too unstable to undergo this procedure." "

Here's the doctor's report: http://s3.documentcloud.org/document...482/Scan-1.pdf
"His working diagnosis is bacterial meningitis and he has been on treatment for this since his presentation to Cardston. The diagnosis has not been confirmed by lumbar puncture as he has been too unstable to undergo this procedure."

If they would have aborted the child at 7 months liberals would have applauded them and maybe given them an award. But choose to not vaccinate at 24 months and they are crucifying them.

There is absolutely no scientific evidence to support that statement; in fact, vaccines stimulate or in the words of the anti-vaxers "challenge" the immune system.
